Patrick Vieira is eying the Arsenal’s manager’s role after Unai Emery leaves.

The Frenchman spent nine years at Highbury where he won three Premier League titles including captaining the legendary ‘Invincibles’ side.

Vieira guided his current side Nice to a seventh-placed finish in his first season at the club. The south of France outfit currently sit 9th in Ligue 1 so far this term.

Along with Mikel Arteta, World Cup winner Vieira also held brief talks with Arsenal following Arsene Wenger’s departure last year but the Gunners opted to replace the Frenchman with Emery.

But when asked by RMC Sport (via Metro) about potentially managing Arsenal in the future, Vieira says he would be keen to take the job: ‘Yes, like any player, when we do this job we want to touch the very highest level.

‘But the very high level I can touch with Nice from the moment we give ourselves the means to succeed and from the moment the way which we work is quite consistent.

‘But we do this job, and I do this job, to one day to be the coach of a team that participates in the Champions League.’
