Brentford have enjoyed a decent run in the Premier League since their promotion about three years ago. Meanwhile, Arsenal have continued growing under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League. Last season, they missed the title to Manchester City but eventually returned to the UEFA Champions League after more than six years away.

Brentford have made a turbulent start to the season. It is their worst start to any campaign in recent years, and it is quite understandable because they have been missing talisman Ivan Toney and left-back Nico Henry, who are both crucial to how they play. They managed to kick off their season with a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium before going to Fulham to pick all three points – it remains their most significant performance this season.

From that moment on, they have been struggling consistently, and there have been no significant answers to arrest the freefall as of the time of writing. They have remained compact as usual, but they have yet to enjoy much success in terms of results, keeping them in the bottom half. After four points from their opening two league games, the Bees went six games without a win in the Premier League – draws with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, defeats to Newcastle and Everton, then a draw with Nottingham Forest, and a late defeat at Manchester United.

On the other hand, the Gunners opened the 2023/24 season with a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest – a fine debut for summer signing Declan Rice. Next was the trip to Crystal Palace – a game they laboured to record a 1-0 win. Arenal then shared the spoils with Fulham at the Emirates in their first London derby match. Meanwhile, the Gunners comprehensively defeated Manchester United 3-1 before the September international break. That classic performance was followed by a much more gritty 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park, which kept the Gunners on track before they went ahead to thump PSV 4-0 in their first Champions League game since 2017.

As Brentford did with Tottenham, the Gunners played a 2-2 draw with their North London rivals at the Emirates before racking up three consecutive wins in all competitions – Brentford (Carabao Cup), Bournemouth and Manchester City in the Premier League. By the way, the first defeat of the season (in all competitions) came in the 2-1 loss to French side Lens.

Arsenal have enjoyed good results against the Bees at the Emirates and at Brentford. In their four meetings in the Premier League, the Gunners have won twice, while Brentford have a solitary win and the last one a draw. As of the time of writing, the Bees are yet to win at home this season; though they have been scoring at home (17+ games), they face an uphill task against the Gunners.

Match tickets

This epic match at the Gtech Community Stadium in London kicks off on Saturday, 25th November, at 6:30 PM UK time, and it will be shown live on TNT Sports, with coverage starting from around 6 PM.

This is the 13th League game of the season for the two teams, and Brentford, who have not enjoyed any great run recently, will welcome one of the most consistent teams to their 17,250-capacity stadium. A late kick-off game is usually filled with drama, and this might not be short of it so that Arsenal fans will be here in their full voices.

Getting Brentford vs Arsenal tickets could be challenging to obtain, given the game’s standard and the stadium’s size. Hence, you are advised to search ticket reselling sites should they be expectedly sold out on each club’s channels.

Team news

Line-ups

Brentford have their respective injury concerns, and they hope to avoid another defeat to the Gunners at their home. Striker Ivan Toney remains suspended while players like Josh Da Silva, Ben Mee, and Mikel Daamsgaard have been in the physio’s room. In the meantime, Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo are expected to lead the line against the Gunners.

Brentford: Strakosha; Ajer, Pinnock, Collins; Rasmussen, Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt, Hickey; Mbeumo, Wissa.

One position that has changed a few times is the goalkeeper at Arsenal. Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya have swapped roles A few times this term under Mikel Arteta, and the last time the Gunners were here in the Carabao Cup, Ramsdale was in goal, and he kept a clean sheet against the Bees.

Declan Rice continues to be a big difference in the midfield for the Gunners, while William Saliba and Gabriel have fully settled in at the back. Winger Bukayo Saka has recently struggled to be fit for games, while Jurrien Timber remains a long-term absentee.

Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Rice, Odegaard, Partey, Saka, Martinelli; Gabriel Jesus.

Prediction

Arsenal is one of the few teams who came to the Gtech Stadium in the past one year to walk away with all three points. It can be argued the Bees have not been on that level at home this campaign due to the absence of Toney and Henry.

Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the London derbies least and are looking towards that direction again this campaign. Brentford have already lost to the Gunners here this season in the Carabao Cup; though they might want to offer a more stern resistance this time, the Gunners should still triumph – narrowly.

Brentford 1-2 Arsenal
