Dani Alves has admitted his next club will be signing a “true champion” this summer.
The Brazilian is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
Gunners boss Unai Emery is strapped for cash this summer, so signing Alves on a free would be a huge coup.
While reports on Alves agreeing a deal with Arsenal remain unconfirmed, it’s believed the former Barcelona full-back is open to a stint in England and he played under Unai Emery during his first season in Paris.
The Brazilian said: “Now I’m free, but I still have a lot to accomplish in my career.
“The only thing that I can say is that the club that sign me will sign a true champion.”
If Arsenal do secure Alves, his presence at right-back should offer Hector Bellerin a lot more competition than Stephan Lichsteiner could muster.
The Swiss defender ended his spell with the Gunners after his contract expired last month. It means only Bellerin and makeshift right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles are reasonable options for Unai Emery.
