New Year, Same Hate For Reed
  • Think he’ll stay with Cech against Chelsea whilst work on Leno continues.
  • Mustafi, Sokratis
  • Nacho should be fit, would solidify our left.
  • Lichsteiner at right back to give us even more solidity in defence and maybe even some decent crosses.
  • Emery will probably choose 2 from Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi as we’re playing away to give us a more defensive structure. Probably leave out Guendouzi.
  • Mikhi, Ramsey Özil
  • Auba/Laca sub

Unai might go for Lichtsteiner on the left side with Hector at RB. Agree on all other points.

Leno

Bellerin - Sokratis - Musti - Lichts

Douzi - Torreira

Ramsey - Özil - PEA

Laca

Press Jorginho out of the game and double up on Hazard and we have a chance of getting something. If Emery is the great tactician and thinker he’s alleged to be then he needs to start by showing it here.

Could do with something like that.

Though I think Cech will start. I'd hope Xhaka is out but also think he will start. One of Myhitaryan or Özil needs benched and preferably Myhitaryan as he was poor and I want to have faith in Özil.

Having Ramsey wide right to protect Bellerin makes sense as well .

Where has Monreal been anyway, not actually seen anything about him?

He came back at the start of last week, but he rejoined the rest of the group in full training in the last couple of days.

Torreira will have Hazard in his back pocket. We deal with the rest and we can get a draw or surprising win.

Oh Cechs playing. Nevermind.

Cech has become such a mixed bag. One moment he's making incredibly risky passes to team mates under pressure and the next he's making a save that keeps you in the game, so to speak.
You don't even know what to do with this guy anymore.

I'm sure Emery is picking the best GK for each game and after watching them everyday in training.

Don't forget that Leno is not some world class player but actually a player who once had potential but coming from Bayern Leverkusen after bad season! So it might take time to build up his confidence again.

Cechs reply to Bayer Leverkusen on twitter was cringe. Should be dropped just for that. If you cant handle some banter, stop trying to pass the ball into your own net.

Uhm, the same applies for Cech, who even though is a PL legend, has been regressing for about a year and a half and some of the passes he was making against City shows that he's not gonna get any better.
If he'll be doing the same against his ex team, then he needs to be dropped so we can see what Leno has to offer.

Thats his competency, he's a great goal saver and can deal with the physicality of PL defenders. But he isn't a ball player and if thats the way Emery wants to play then he should choose Leno. Also doesn't help that our defenders can't think of anything to do with the ball other than pass it back. Didn't I read something about Cech having the second highest no. of touches. Our team should try and use the last defender as a fulcrum and not the goalie, who should be the last resort really.

Arsenal Quotes

A team can attack for too long. The most opportune time for scoring is immediately after repelling an attack, because opponents are then strung out in the wrong half of the field. All the men are expected to play to plan, but not so as to stifle individuality
