Saka, ESR, Martinelli... They are all 20 years or under still. You might well be right about their end product but I wouldn't bet against it yet. Take a look at what some of the league's biggest end product machines were doing at 19/20 years old. Development is non linear and they can explode at 22/23. Challenge for us as a big club is whether we can afford to persist with potentially massive talents before they have peaked.
Definitely need players that can get goals and assists though. I think Martinelli is that player as well
I am talkin about now. Martinelli would improve technically and in his role as the others of 19/20 yo, but he already has high IQ movement without the ball and to make the final ball and he is also very fast, that why you can see him being direct and reaching good goalscoring positions often.
Saka is more suited, imo, to ball progression and ball retention, ESR the same plus link up play etc, Pepe simple lacks the football IQ to be a better and more consistent player imo.
About young 'end product' machines who played as mainly inside forwards or as ST, Mbappe has it, Haaland has it, but someone like Rashford I don't think so, for exemple. Rashford did improved technically (as it is normal) and did improved physically, but his IQ with or without the ball didn't improved as much.
Just looks his npxG and xA didn't improved at all since 2018 and in fact declined this season: Marcus Rashford Stats | FBref.com
He is not reaching better goalscoring positions or creating more, and he makes no work defensively, his job is to score and assists goals only.
