He can spend as much as he wants, as long as he achieves the clubs goals.

Spending money doesn't guarantee success. If someone spends money and achieves what he's meant to achieve, everyone's happy even the finance guy. A lot of managers spend money and actually end up going backwards, like Ole and Lampard.

Arteta has been backed financially no doubt, KSE should have done it a long time ago with previous managers.

If a manager is given the opportunity to spend money, any manager would take that opportunity and this season Arteta and the recruitment guys have spent pretty well and wisely.

Only with Arsenal fans could spending money and actually spending it well be seen as some kind of back hand compliment or dig with this 'chequebook manager' stuff

It's not just about spending though, we started spending under Wenger and Emery but what went wrong was the disconnect between the board and the manager. Emery got his targets he may still be here.

Hmmm, I'm still not convinced by Mikel but I am not surprised he has been given another contract. To be favourites for 4th with 4 games left and reaching the semi finals of one of the domestic cups (lost to probably the best team in the World) has got to be seen as a successful season.

Whatever we individually as fans think the targets should be for Arsenal he has clearly achieved the targets set out by his bosses and at the end of the day that is all that is really relevant to his employment.
