They looked nervy as **** today for sure, but this City team also completely demolished Real Madrid.

Not really gassing up anyone, said time and time again that the whole debate about past vs. present for me isn't really about the top teams. But at the same time, I think many on here - including yourself - have a tendency to completely **** on almost any modern defender. if you actually sit down and watch some full matches from those early 2000s teams, you'd be shocked by how many mistakes they make, on top of looking clumsy as **** on the ball.

John Stones is a top CB and it up there among the best English CBs ever. Dude is very good defensively and levels above any other English CB in history on the ball, has won the PL 5 times, 2 FA cups, got to the Euros final as a starter for a team lauded for their defense and has now also won the CL.
Yeah you're absolutely gassing them up. "Demolishing" Madrid while ignoring the ref masterclass in the first leg, Stones won the PL 5 times when this is the first title he's ever made a difference for (and it's not even at CB) etc.

I'm not one for nostalgia I call plenty of players in the past ****, I recognise the difference in athleticism and also see the rose tinted colours with which some look at the teams of the past. However I also recognise this counter trend that many like a reflex assume that everything today is better when there's no reason it would be. It's not just in football btw this kinda divide exists elsewhere too.

Pointless debate though keep rating who you rate.

I think that’s where Real Madrid will play him, if they get him.

He doesn’t have to play as a traditional number 9 and he can drop deep or drift out to the left similar to what Thierry was doing at Arsenal or float around like Benzema.

Wonder whether JUST IN is necessary for Real Madrid and Mbappe

Rodri as bad as Rice was the other night by the way. Nothing said here though.

Finals are a different level.

A woman was comentating the game in german on free-tv:

She literally said before the last corner "inzaghi wanted the whistle blown". She literally named Walker Kylo and Dennis a few time. But then if you are critising her, you are sexist.

Imagine you would do your job that bad and still getting the biggest possible job.

Because Trump grabbed P and got away with it now every man has to pay for that degenerate’s crimes as society has freed women from all responsibility and accountability to make up for Trump. #MeTo

Phil Foden total fraud of a footballer btw. Won so many trophies and hasn’t contributed anything meaningful to any of them. Luxury window dressing basically. Hailed as the next great thing like 3 years ago already and he’s still playing second fiddle. Bowl cut fraud.

City always brag about him being so young and already have 5 Prems.

First 3 titles, 20 combined starts

City were terrible and deserved to lose. They do struggle against a team compact in the middle with some quality strong CBs. Haaland was absolutely schooled by inters CBs.

Imo the next team to beat city in the PL is the team that can put together a defensive team with an elite group of defenders, pace on the wings, physical presence in the box combined with clinical finishing. Difficult to play them at their own game. Everyone wants to play progressive football currently, but when a team finally counteracts city with a defensive approach, we will probably see a philosophy shift.

Credit where credit is due. You can bemoan the financials etc, but winning a treble is not an easy thing, no matter what.

City is the epitome of what is wrong with modern football, but it is what is is, and the achievement is what it is.

Arsenal are the most beautiful club in England. At Man City and Chelsea, they will never have that class and style.
