You can't ever say that an Arsenal v Man Utd game in that period was "not of large magnitude". Those games were huge every single time. Otherwise, completely agree - I'd add the Van Persie vs Charlton goal in there, too. All 10/10 goals.
My bad, should have said a game of large consequence. Henry vs Man Utd was a big game, but early in the season. Van Persie vs Charlton and Bergkamp vs Newcastle had tiny bits that you could argue against(VP shinning it, Bergkamp "fouling" the defender). Giroud's goal was simply immaculate.

I think that goal is up there with Henry vs Man Utd or Bergkamp vs Newcastle for best ever Arsenal goals. It had everything: perfect sliding tackle, quick counter, team play, slick ground passes, pinpoint backheel, aerial ball, that sweet crossbar bounce, scorpion kick, a lobbed finish and not a single disputable moment in all of this. Only thing missing was that it wasn't on a game of large magnitude, but neither was the Henry or Bergkamp goal.
A game against United is always huge and Newcastle were leading the league for a while that season, iirc they were top at new years. They finished in the top four so it was at the time a big game given what both teams were going for.

If Giroud hadn't gone on that drought for like 16 games I'd be tossing him off right now :mad::mad:
 All is not lost mate. This might kick start a goal spree that could realise your ambition.

2 in 2, we probably have to keep playing him until his streak ends and he goes on a goal drought.

Iwobi's goal today was far better.

As I said before if giroud had some Pace he'll be really top striker but he never had. Well at least he got damn good beard .

I was just about to write this - I'm almost certain Newcastle were top of the league when we went up there and beat them 2-0. That was a huge result for us.

on what was going through his mind…
I go first post and Alexis give me the ball a bit behind me and I tried to take it from back heel and I have maximum luck. It’s just about luck, I was not good balance. It was a great feeling and even more because I wanted to score from the first minute from the natural cross and it was a bit short. That’s why I really wanted to score…

on whether he’s ever done that before…
No, no. Not at all. So that’s why I told you…

on whether he thought about Mkhitaryan goal…
In this position you can’t do something else so I was lucky and it’s nice for me and it’s nice for the team. I think it’s my best one.

on his view of the goal…
HB - I couldn’t believe it, that’s why I went straight to him. It’s a great goal. I’ve seen Oli do stuff like that in training. I know what he’s capable of. We’re very excited as well because it was the first goal of the game and we had the ball, we had lots of chances so it’s nice when you finally get one in.

My comment : Giroud lifted his left foot long before the ball touch his left foot, he knows where the ball is going to be.
That's instinct and skill, and that's proof you train everyday
After the ball left his foot, that's where luck plays... 1 inch above and it would have hit the bar. Amazing goal better than Mikhitaryan because of the difficulty.

His goal was spectacular, I admit.

But is it only me that feels that Özil's goal in the CL has been better this season?

The reason why I say this is that although I know it was Girouds intention to scorpion kick for the goal...it's based on more luck than Özil's. Özil's required more concentration over a long period of time, more decisions required for each player and not to forget the spectacular lob over the keeper,

Of course Girouds was a miracle, but I guess it means I'm more of a fan of individual brilliance sustained longer than a second of impact from Girouds heel compared to several seconds of Özil's single handed contribution to his solo goal.

Does that make sense?

Arsenal Quotes

When Patrick Vieira came over from AC Milan, he didn’t know a word of English. We gave him accommodation, phone, car and an English teacher. I talked to Patrick in fluent French and before a game I asked in French, can you speak a bit of English to me? Patrick nodded and replied: Tottenham are shit!
