As Jeremy Clarkson would say, Özil needs a bit of that on his arse...Won't stop running!
I'm guessing it was about whether we let Özil and Sanchez both go (which would have harmed our status as a big club), or keeping one of them at all costs.I don't understand why he was given that enormous contract when Sven and Raul were already at the club.
He trained all week, it's not like he's gone on strike. If Emery chooses not to play him, that doesn't mean he's in breach of his contract. Is there any way the club can opt to not pay his wages?
Özil isn't fulfilling his contract he doesn't deserve to be paid.
yes it is, his main job is keeping our best players performing, he is not doing that. It's not his job to coddle Özil.
Different personalities, We know Özil does not like competition, he just wants to have a good time and play with freedom.Did he complain about being hung out to dry in the press? No, he got his head down and worked hard to get another chance in the team.
I agree, but that's not the same thing as coddling him. It's actually a disrespect to Özil to suggest that he needs that kind of treatment.yes it is, his main job is keeping our best players performing, he is not doing that.
For £350k a week he'll need to do a bit more than thatDifferent personalities, We know Özil does not like competition, he just wants to have a good time and play with freedom.
Only Man United and Inter were interested in him when he was available on a free, so the effect this situation has had on his value is negligible. Chinese clubs are the big players here, although we don't know whether he'd be willing to go there. The club rejected a £26m bid from a Chinese club for Lucas Perez in January 2017 when he was barely playing, I'm sure they'd go for something similar if they could get a big name like Özil. With Emery showing his hand in this, making it obvious that Özil is not wanted, along with his high wages - there is no club that will pay us a decent transfer fee. We'll be lucky to get around £20M?
it looks as if Emery has told the heirarchy he wants to free up Özil's wages to bring his own choice of players in, which doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't rate him
the battle of wills might be between Emery and the board rather than Emery and Özil

The Times are reliableAlso, tell me @American_Gooner is joking about that Perez offer from China. I refuse to believe that the club is so incompetent to refuse an offer like that for a squad player only to sell him for pennies on the dollar a season later.
The Times are reliable
Why would he? I doubt any manager wants to discuss such stuff with the press. That's the best explanation for me why Özil isn't on the bench anyway, it reminds me of the Martinez-Nainggolan case. You know I was thinking that the other day. But I think Emery would blatenly say he was refusing if that was the case.
