Outsmarting the market just means not going for who everyone else is going for. That means no Pepe, Ndombele, Koulibaly etc. It means either very young prospects or players who are relatively cheap for whatever reason.

It's why links to players like Hermoso, Ziyech or Fraser do make sense. They're in the last year of their contract or have low release clauses.

I imagine we'll do the same as last summer: a mix of older players for good value and very young prospects, no more than 6 overall I'd say.

Ziyech, Bennacer, Hermoso & a LB for 60-70m, something like that.
