Let's appoint another teams former midfield captain because we're too scared to take a chance on our own, that makes sense.

Imagine if he managed us against Liverpool, you think he'd have his heart in it? He's too attached to that club imo. He's Mr.Liverpool. He surely wouldn't manage Arsenal who's been their title and top 4 rivals throughout Gerrard's career, even if we're quite a bit off Liverpool now it just would seem very strange. Think if he can get Rangers a league title at some point then he walks into the Liverpool job once Klopp leaves.

Who knows? The guy once put in a transfer request weeks after winning the CL to join Mourinho. That only collapsed after a crazy backlash... maybe he fancies a run at other clubs before returning home. He is only 39.

I have a new preferred candidate: Ralf Rangnick.
He can speak english, should be quite easy to get and is a highly rated and interesting coach.

Rangnick is my preferred choice too. Apparently we interviewed him as one of the guys on our shortlist after Wenger.

id no to Bayern because he didn`t want to return as a manager. Doubt we will tempt him.

The rumours were that he was interested in the Bayern job but Bayern didn't think his high pressing style suited the squad, and that he may want more control than Rumenigge and Hoeness are willing to give. They apparently want a more compliant coach, rather than a my way or the highway one.

If it is a young manager like Vieira or Gerrard hope they hold off till the summer even if Freddie just brings us home.

Think its a really bad look for a young manager to jump ship midseason & history repeats.

I don't think most players or managers care about that kind of stuff tbh. It's just a job to them. Some have the gravitas to pretend they have a special connection the club like the fans do ala Henry and others just tell it like it is, Vieira for one.

Gerrard grew up an Everton fan and the only thing that stopped him leaving Liverpool was scouse gangsters.

I hope people don't moan if they go for Jose. At this point in the season options are limited and appointing Ljungberg shouldn't even be a consideration.

We can try and push for the Europa League and face a Man United potentially, but we should just completely write off this season and prepare for next season now.

Do not make a mistake of bringing in the wrong manager. We need an astute appointment next season, someone who can steady the ship and get us playing smart, attractive football.
