How soon is Wenger expecting Morata to make the step up? If this is his idea for progression upfront then I'm admittedly skeptical. However, Morata is a very talented forward, and he could turn out to be a gem.

Think we should be looking at a slightly higher-profile striker IMO. I'm not against a left-field signing however.

He was right about Aurier, he kept saying our interest has cooled as Wenger has doubts over him.

Don't like Cross either, think his non transfer stories are terrible, especially when we aren't playing well.

I wonder if we were ever interested in Aurier though. The stuff from Gazidis' Q+A suggests we maybe never were. Cross could have just be backtracking.

Anyways, it doesn't matter. If Morata ends up being our only striker signing it would be underwhelming, at least on paper.

This is true, but I didn't believe/care about the rumours back then either. In 2002 and 2003 I saw Ljungberg at the same restaurant on two occasions and he had an attractive lady with him both times, and they even seemed to be making physical contact. But back then mobile phones didn't have cameras so I couldn't invade his privacy.

Anyway, I'd seriously like Morata here. Ive seen what his ability could produce for us now and the scope he has for improvement. If he's free to go with with no catches, we should seal the deal. Outside of the likes of Balo and Cavani etc, he's the natural choice.
