Arsenalyouth.wordpress.com has Afobe and Freeman with a brace each, and Aneke scoring once.

Yeah, gotta say it sounds more plausible with Afobe scoring a brace than Aneke scoring a hattrick. Just had a look, and since Bird did player ratings and all he must have been attending the game. The official site probably has gotten things a bit mixed up.

Exactly, Afobe not getting on the scoresheet in a 5-0 victory seems more unlikely than Vermaelen ending up as top scorer this year.

Not sure who does the report for U18s on Arsenal.com, but it always seems to contain more errors than the blogs. I tend to trust the blogs more for match reports.

Didn't know where else to put this but Merida scored both goals for Spain as they beat Nigeria in the U-20 world cup:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.101greatgoals.com/category/goals/internationals/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.101greatgoals.com/category/g ... nationals/</a>" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3520223/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3520223/</a>" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you can't tell, the second one is a chipped penalty. The first isn't a bad finish either, nice lob over the keeper.

Engand lost 1-0 to Uruguay in their first match and then got thumped 4-0 by Ghana (who are often strong in the youth championships). Gavin Hoyte has been an unused sub in both games I think.

I saw the end of that game, Merida has done very well, some in the lobby say hes been one of the best players in the u20 tournament so far from what I was reading the other day.
