We have had an agreement with Arsenal for several days but we had to wait until Arsenal and the player reached an agreement."

So thats why it took so long! Anyways as long as its done thats all that matters! Now tomorrow is D-Day with Vieira and Wenger. Lets hope AW can make it 3 out of 3.

All of our three buys have not left their clubs on the best of terms. Lets hope they have left their problems behind.

Quite right Sol man, lets hope AW's man management skills come to the fore with these guys.

So, now that this is a done deal (almost!) what do you guys think Hatem will bring to the team?

Possibly more attacking runs than Lauren, assuming he still needs a bit of time to adapt, I'll take his level of defence to be the same as Lauren's until he's settled down.

Defensive and offensive superiority to Lauren.

Wenger has got into the rhythm of making "specific" signings. In other words, he identifies a very particular gap or weakness in his squad and buys someone to fill it. Last year, he noticed the lack of a natural left-sided attacker and signed Reyes. He then noticed the lack of quality cover for Pires and signed RvP. He has now realised that our right side is comparatively weak, and has signed Trabelsi.

The other approach, practised by Ferguson, is to make a bid for any top class player who becomes available. This is why he ends up with so many round pegs for square holes (e.g. Veron) - he doesn't bother considering whether there is actually a pressing need in his team for a new player in a particular position.

On the other hand: The fact that they left there clubs on the best of terms is most likely the biggest reason the play for Arsenal right now. We would have never had the money to pay for them, if they did not have a conflict.

Hatem stronger and more powerfull than Lauren and tunisian have a great shoot!...Arsène make a "point transfer politic's" and it's very usefull singing for us...I'll be very happy if our right flank will be so strong that left :D
and if Trabelsi would play like Ashley in the goal line it will be GREAT :D

I just saw Ronald Koeman on Sky Sports news and he says that the transfer should happen soon. He also says that he never had any problems with trabelsi but he did in the later stages of his Ajax carrear due to the contract problems.

We seem to have some problems agreeing with him. Maybe he's asking for a lot because of the other interested clubs, or more likely is that there's work permit problems. Let's hope it's sorted soon.

Definitely no problems with the work permit since Trabelsi has earned enough international caps with Tunisia and has played in Europe for quite a long period of time. Ronaldo Koeman has stated he wants to get rid of Trabelsi as fast as possible because he doesn't treat him as an Ajax player anymore. So definitely he won't be waiting for any other more offers. And Arsenal's offer of 4million pounds which is 6million euros might just be the right price he wants. Sources also report the transfer of Trabelsi will also be sorted out tomorrow.

he is not trouble maker
he is one of the most serious players in africa
his contract with ajax was a fake, so it s normal he goes to the court .....

FAKE!?

a contract's a contract. And football contracts aint the kind that you just glimpse at the first paragraph and sign......

I'm sure he is serious, but if ajax put that clause in they're legally entitled to excercise their rights.

Very happy we have nearly done this deal. Is a very good player and will be a very valuable member to our squad. We really do lack cutting edge on the right side of our team. Andy Gray once said we probe on the right and devestate on the left, hopefully next season we will devestate on both sides!

Think the problem was he felt they put that clause in illegally i.e. without his knowledge. Should of read the bloody contract first then eh

Trabelsi will probably be the first-choice right-back, which will enable Lauren to become our key utility player. The way I see it is that Lauren is Parlour's replacement.

Hatem is definately no trouble maker. We are not in a position to judge him based on the disagreement he had with Ajax. None of us have seen the contract and none of us know who was really right.

Thats past him now and he's moving on. You have to give players a second chance.

And he'll definately be first choice right back with Lauren as backup.
