The point is, if Edu maintains his form, which he has all season, either as sub or more recently as starter, then he has rightly claimed his place in Arsenal's first team. Edu is clearly the better player, despite what the ****s on Arsenal-world think. There are a hard core minority on that site who will always discredit Edu. this is because when Gilberto was first choice central midfielder, they were so smug, they argued they new more about football and this was justified by the fact that Wenger also favoured Gilberto. Obviously they don't look so clever now. This is the reason why the Edu/Gilberto debate was always so heated. in the past if you dared criticise Gilberto and praise Edu you were accused of football ignorance. Quote from the Sun 'Edu.... Why wasn't he handed a regular spot earlier? Has atlast righfully established himself as a first choice!

With regards to the thread, if we are offered 7-8 million for Gilberto I would take it with no hesitation and in my opinion I believe Wenger would also seriously consider it.

I must stress i never criticised EDU and neither did anyone else. Some believe Gilberto is better at breaking attacks and at defensive headers.

the reason i believe the arguments get so heated is because someone comes on and says Gilberto is ****, and that is bloody annoying considering he is a main reason why we have conceded few goals. After that you get people like me who come and defend gilberto and you guys who hate him think we are having a go at EDU, which we are not. I believe EDU should start at this time because he is on fire, however, i still believe Gilberto will play quite a few games, cause with EDU we are more vunerable to long balls.

the trouble is the debate is polarised, and the way in which you write illustrates this.

I like Edu & Gilberto. I think that they offer different options clearly.

I am just sick of "fans" who boo their own players. Fans who can not recognise a player's contribution.

Edu & Gilberto have also been a fine partnership this season.

I would love to see the stats but I am sure Vieira has given up more missed passes and lost possession more the Gilberto. I know its slightly different in that the play flows through Vieira. I think he is the greatest midfielder I have seen play, but he is human and can give away possession and have poor games. When he plays ****e we forgive him. Gilberto does not get the same grace, encouragement, and fair treatment from his own fans. The guy is a humble hard working team player and that is required at Arsenal too. See what his team mates think of him.

and defending Gilberto does not mean that you cant think Edu is great too.

just give Gilberto Silva more credit.
