Dislike 4 year contracts (really only a 2.5 year extension?)

It suggests one party isn't fully committed/has reservations.
How do you get a 2.5 year extension when his contract was until 2024, and now is until 2027? Isn't that 3 years?

It can also suggest that Saka knows his position with 1 year left in contract, so can haggle a shorter contract to get a raise faster.

(But on the other hand, extending with 1 year left means that Arsenal paid less wages to him in the period before the extension. Like a year, so that should also be considered regarding the wages.)

To all those people complaining about the length it works for both parties.

There is a chance that he stagnates/regresses you know? And if he doesn’t…well 4 years or 5 years doesn’t really matter if he’s determined to move.
Do you think Real Madrid were one of the clubs interested?

Saka’s team have had Edu and co over a barrel.

Return before renegotiating again is just spin. Even with two poor seasons Saka with have clubs lining up.

Hopefully the £300k a week thing is heavily performance based.

Whatever though. I just adore this guy.

If we have the money available to pay those wages it's all good. I'm just glad we will have the pleasure of seeing him perform in an Arsenal shirt for the next few years at least, and watch him grow into an even bigger star.
Apparently its about 200k basic, with the extra 100k performance related according to Sami Mokbel who everyone else seems to be taking their figures from.

Saka is smart not to sign a super long term deal. He has been durable, going from strength to strength, very young and Arsenal’s manager still hasn’t proven he can do the business. I fully expect him to move on in 3 years unless Bottler Mik can deliver a league title or CL winning level side. We probably would of got another year on his deal from Saka’s people if our manager didn’t publicly meltdown and go Deer in headlights mode and we had actually won league. At that point he is committing to a proven winner and not some Tosser’s Project. The ripple effect of the manager choking is we probably got a shorter deal

The last 10 games has really detracted from how good he has been this season. People would typically focus on the poor end to the season rather than see the 80% where he has been top class. The number of games where he’s scored/assisted vital goals shows he is becoming a game changer for us. Expect him to push on again next season and become a genuine world class player in the next couple of years.

Our crown jewel , must be rested and protected the most, can't have another season of him playing till his legs fall off from tiredness he is our talisman, the guy who can make goal scoring situations out of nothing.

exactly. Short contract are risky. Of you have a carrier ending injury…

Saka likely bets on him fulfilling more of his potential soon enough, so doesn't want a 5-year contract, but rather a bigger raise faster after a couple of years.

On the other hand, if Arsenal wants that 5-year contract, it would likely mean that they would have to pay more during that time for Saka to accept it.

So in addition to what I said earlier, it seems pretty clear that this 4-year contract fits both parties on multiple levels.

Saka is already done for life with these contracts, so it's not like he has to fear a career-ending injury much. Besides, he trusts in God and doesn't have much fear in any case.

Sorry miscalculated, correct it's 3 years.

Point still stands it's a short term deal and that's a worry.

Arsenal Quotes

Arsenal was firmly embedded in the local community and had a very solid, working-class foundations. The fans espoused the club's values. This visceral attachment, from childhood, to a club and a team is something I have never seen anywhere else with such fervour. Every fan's first match at Highbury was like a baptism.
