by the way what was the cost for the arsenal newcastle match tickets...
someone told me it was 10 pounds or something

The cheapest tickets were 10 pounds indeed. A one in a lifetime opportunity for many.

Seems its something they are going to do once a year, super cheap tickets. So expect that in the Carling Cup.

Arsenal Want 2011 Uefa Cup Final.
Arsenal have submitted a bid to host the 2011 UEFA Cup Final at Emirates Stadium.
It can be revealed that the Gunners will find out this week if they have made the shortlist to host the prestigious fixture

It is understood that seven other European venues have submitted bids to UEFA, including Dublin's Landsdowne Road, which is undergoing refurbishment, as well as stadiums in Germany, Portugal and Spain and three from Eastern Europe.

If Arsenal's bid is shortlisted, Emirates Stadium will host a UEFA delegation before the end of this year as part of their venue assessment.

A recommendation will then be made to UEFA's executive committee, who will make a final decision by the end of March next year.

This will be based on a number of criteria, including capacity, seat access, facilities, transport links and hotel availability.

Crucially, Arsenal have the support of Ken Livingstone.

The Mayor has pledged more than £100,000 to support their bid, which also has the backing of the Football Association.

I think until we host a major UEFA tournament we can't have the stadium classed as a 5 star venue and they probably want to make a bit of money out of it as well!

The problem is, you cannot submit a bid independent of your national association. The FA has to ratify any bids and will only put one ground forward for the Champions League and UEFA Cup respectively.

The FA is desperate for Wembley to get the Champions League final, so they will never put Emirates forward ahead of Wembley until it gets it. Maybe if Wembley gets the final, then a few years later Emirates might, but UEFA will not go back to London for at least five years I would reckon. Also, although they should not be directly connected, the fact London has the Olympics in 2012 and England want the world cup in 2018 might not help either.

It makes sense for us to go for the UEFA, the FA will be pleased if we get it as it raise the profile of the English game and they will not try and block it. That way, we can show we can host a final and maybe oneday we will get the big one. If we get it before 2020 I would be surprised though....

Our stadium has been short listed to hold a UEFA Cup final and Wembley for the CL final.

Like Allyboy says the FA will not back us if we want a CL final but a UEFA cup final would be very good for the profile of the stadium. Also with England wanting to hold a major tournament here the FA would be very keen of pushing our name forward for the UEFA cup

You have to wonder who is ***** that designed the ticket exchange system on the website. If you are looking to a ticket via ticket exchange, you have to select a block and if there are no seats there, you get the "Unfortunately, that area is sold out. Please choose a different area or click the link at the bottom of the page to see if seats are available through Ticket Exchange." message and because there is no way of knowing where availability exists, You then have to go to every single block ( all 76 of them) plus another 44 in club level to see if there is a ticket available for exchange. Wouldn't it be simpler to have one page that lists all seats available for ticket exchange and where they are?
