Can someone explain to me the logic in playing Elneny as a DM/CB in most games but then position him further forward and play AMN there instead?

Or how Elneny was played as a CB in preseason, but when we needed a CB Wenger put Coquelin on as a CB with Elneny on the bench.

Wenger has lost it. Been quite a while ago now.
