why we are getting a keeper ffs!! this is the least of our worries now! our midfield and defence are the main concern! if we don't strengthen now, then say goodby to trophies this season
well, i dont know if a keeper is the LEAST of our worries, but in the short term, it is not what we should be looking for.... TBH, not all to thrilled with him compared to Lehmann
I don't think we need a new keeper. For me Jens has been the best in the premiership this season and Almunia has so much potential. He has lots of experience and is the most natural shot stopper I've seen. He was the best player against Doncaster with Gilberto and pulled off some great saves.
I think he is could be better than Cech if he got more games in the premiership and champions league and brushes up on set plays. I know that might sound stupid but Cech hasn't done as well this season as he did last year just like Howard didn't do as well for United in his second season. Remember Cech's error against Blackburn.
Even though you say he's not that great of a keeper you've got to admit that he's been one of the most consistent keeper in the premiership. To add to that, his performance keeps improving season by season.
But seriously Arsenal need someone much better than him. He may look good at Bolton but not at Arsenal.
For goodness sake, I hope not. Is one good game really enough for everyone to forget the rubbish he's served up until this point? He just seems to have become a cup specialist, of late (and I guess that could be disproved by the Manchester Utd. performance last year).
why would lehmann want to leave? he hasn't been doing so bad these days. I mean, I havent heard about him in the papers lately, so he must be doing something right!!!
Lehmann's been quality, this season especially. Despite some of the stuff he did earlier in his career, I have a huge amount of respect for him as a professional, and affection for him as a person. I like his attitude, I like his fire, and I enjoy watching him play. I hope that history appreciates him at least almost as much as I do.
That said, he's getting on a bit now - it will be time to move on very soon. Wenger stuck with Seaman for too long, and I really hope he doesn't do the same with Jens. No matter how things go this season, I'd want us to be at least ready to replace him by the time next season starts. Viera would have been a great guy to do it, but unfortunately the infamous Arsenal 'medical' put a stop to that...
