Either Myles has a scoop, or it's a load of baloney. But apparently Arsenal have signed a pre-contract with Fluminese for Lenny, their tiny forward, for when his contract runs out at the end of December.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=1110&cntnt01origid=30&cntnt01returnid=42" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/inde ... eturnid=42</a>

He is 20 years old, only 5'7" (1.71m) tall, and only scored 2 goals in 34 games for Tricolor Carioca. Hardly prolific.

He was on loan at Braga in Portugal for 6 months, but they didn't pick him up.

His wiki entry was updated with the Arsenal connection as far back at Sept 2nd, but I haven't heard anyone make mention of him before.

Maybe he is the striker that we are supposed to be sending to Osasuna. Since I can't see us getting a permit for him.

Interesting signing. Should go out on loan in Spain. Looks quite a decent player on youtube, very good acceleration with ball at feet.

Myles has good contacts in Brazil actually, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was accurate.

Also, I'm sure there was some talk about us signing a 'Carlos Vela' type, or something, but I can't remember the specifics - this would seem to fit the bill.

Know sod-all about him, of course, but I love his name. Lenny. Brilliant.

I think we're supposed to be sending him on loan to Salamanca (not Osasuna), and i think he plays for Palmeiras (not Fluminense)....

Salamanca have been saying that we're signing a young Brazilian striker for zip and loaning him to them, so this does seem to add up.

He'll have to ply his trade in Spain for what? 2 years? Can't see much downside to this signing, so I guess I'm happy.

LOL, we have a £3mil bid rejected, but we'l get him even cheaper now. Gotta love/hate the Transfer system.

Like all transfers, il believe this when i see it on the official website 1 week after its announced on Skysports news.

All I know about the guy is that he's amazing on one of the old Footie Managers. Also, this story was in The People today so im guessing theres some truth to it. They described him as a Robinho/Ronaldinho type, so he might be a little tasty. Wengers tried to sign some big name south americans in the past and failed when they were younger, so this guy as I said might be pretty good

We're signing a midget named Lenny! This is so awesome. I don't really care if he's ever gonna be good enough to start a game, just as long as he keeps being a midget named Lenny. He isn't gonna grow any taller, is he?

Arsenal make move for young Brazilian striker Lenny

By John Cross 11/11/2008

Arsène Wenger is ready to snap up another Brazilian starlet after moving for Palmeiras striker Lenny.

Arsenal boss Wenger has used the same scouting connections which led him to sign Brazilian midfielder Denilson to steal a march on his rivals.

Lenny, 20, whose full name is Lenny Fernandes Coelho, is out of contract after December 31. Reports have surfaced in Brazil that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gunners.

Arsenal would have to pay compensation and also loan him out - possibly to Spanish club Salamanca, where Carlos Vela flourished - to help him get a work permit.

Lenny has made only 12 appearances at Palmeiras over the past 11 months - but has done enough to show up on Arsenal's radar.

Despite the club's lack of experience in the defensive midfield slot, Wenger is set to continue his policy of pursuing youth.

And his next swoop could be for Southampton's 19-year-old French battler Morgan Schneiderlin.

I love how Brazlian footballers names either end with the standard 'inho' or have just a one common name like Jo, Fred and now Lenny. Surely there is a Bob or a Jim around too?
