United under Ole got themselves in a position going into last summers transfer window that we hope to be in at the end of the season. They had a good squad that was comfortably finishing top four and needed 3/4 additions to take them to the next level.

In Varane and Sancho they got two of them on paper. They then went and ****ed it all up by panicking when it looked like City were getting Ronaldo. Just like with Alexis and Fred they threw all that squad building out the window to make a statement.

Now they’ve stalled progress for players who should have been starting every game in the likes of Sancho and Greenwood, their defence and midfield has gone backwards and they’re probably another year or two away from competing at the top again.

Lovely stuff.

They bought Ronaldo and destroyed everything they were building the Sancho and Varane was very good transfers but they should have added midfielder instead of Ronaldo

Manutd still have a very top squad apart from midfield who really even not even close to westham quality but still when you have guy who want every ball and score every goal it won't help. I think next summer with Ralf they definitely fix that.

Their situation right now is identical to us a few weeks ago. They need to drop their Auba (Ronaldo) and play the kids (Sancho/Greenwood/Amad).

Problem for them is you simply can’t drop Ronaldo for half a season.

Sancho Bruno Greenwood/Rashford
Cavani

imo is most balanced Cavani is not only world class goal scorer but team player. Managers afraid to bench Ronaldo.

The man will score a penalty or scruffy tap in and everyone will bang on about how he’s carrying Utd.

He’s killing Greenwood in front of our eyes.

Varane is dusted fwiw. All those Utd fans gone quiet on White costing the same as him.

Ben is clear.

Sancho is the one I feel sorry for. I watched a lot of him in Germany and he’s genuinely a special player, yeah his stats were inflated due to the rubbish defences but he’s definitely their best wide man.

He was the talk of the summer, got his massive move and thought he was getting the prestigious 7 shirt and then got a bukake from Southgate and Ole.

United have two massive problems. Man City live rent free in their heads and signing players for commercial interest.

Pep turned down the opportunity to replace Fergie and it weighed on Moyes. He wasn't the chosen one. LVG is the only manager unconnected to the City issue and probably the one they should have backed. Mourinho has an ongoing feud with Pep and couldn't let it go. Ole is a United boy and got pre occupied with the nosey neighbours. Theyve signed Alexis, Fred and Ronaldo to stop them going to City - all to their own detriment. Im 100% convinced the pursuit of Sancho was down to his ex City status and bringing him 'home' to Manchester.

Commercially they've signed Ronaldo, Di Maria, Pogba, Varane and Maguire to boost their commercial profile over footballing requirements. I actually like Maguire but too much around him as been superficial. Style over substance.

Ralf has a job on his hands but he is what United need. Someone unconnected that has stature to say no we aren't signing x, y or z and commercial success follows sporting success.

Maguire boosted their commercial profile? Thats weird. His personality is insanely boring and as a player he is barely better than Mustafi. One of the worst signings ever made by a professional football club.

Thing is though is Ralf able to say that. He’s going to be consulting rather than being a strict DoF and I feel like as a club they’ll keep making impulsive buys like Ronaldo for the name value.

Is Woodward definitely leaving? All a bit of a shambles right now.

Maguire has been horrendous after his prison break.

Before Varane played for United, I said he is not EPL proven and had been making mistakes in recent times. Now he can barely stay fit in a tougher league and keeps on making mistakes. They take turns with Maguire.

This could be a good pair of CB's, but it's not the easiest to get their confidence back with McFred in front of them.

Not buying a midfielder was a huge mistake. They could have got one with the Ronaldo fee + wages. But now they tank their youngsters development and Martial's transfer value.

Martial seems to be on a 250k pounds per week deal until 2024 with an option for another year. He has played 202 EPL minutes this season. 359 minutes total. But he has been injured too.

Seems to me they’ve hired a guy who needs full control in order for him to succeed yet his own job description/role completely undermines that.

He’s an interim who’s probably only going to be there till the end of the season, is that enough time to get the squad fully on board with what he wants? Probably not, he certainly won’t have the power as an interim to make wholesale changes to the squad. The whole consultancy role at the end is really bizarre too, it’s basically just saying we’ll listen to your opinion but whether it holds any weight is a different story.

Why not just make him director of football? Or appoint him as permanent manager? You’ve practically set him up for failure straight off the bat.

I see it very differently. Ralf has been brought in as interim to assess the squad up close and personal with the opportunity to gear it towards whomever his managerial recommendation is (that person may be himself). If he doesn't recommend himself he will have control of transfers and tailor players towards the gaps identified and foundations he has laid.

If United dont do that then youre right the appointment makes no sense and they've brought in a lame duck.

What's up with Van De Beek btw? Doesn't seem like it was an Ole problem lol, but maybe there's a reason he still isn't playing much
