Saw Greenwood trending. Never imagined how horrifying the reason for why was going to be. Sickening, that's his United career over then surely? It's Ravel Morrison all over again.

As some have already suggested, we have seen this play out before.

I think it also depends on how important Greenwood is to the bigger picture. If he is a favourite then he will survive this, justice will be relegated to an afterthought, with all relevant parties settled and quietened.

Justice doesnt always come when it needs to Im afraid.

I mean there’s leaked documents where Ronaldo cops to raping someone and nothing happened.

“Waiting for the facts to be established” will turn into hoping he beats it at trial if it even gets that far which it probably won’t.

Look at the Wales FA keeping Giggs on the payroll for almost two years after his arrest to wait and see he beats the case.

Seen this too many times in sport with guys like Kobe, Ronaldo and Deshaun Watson to be anything other than sceptical.
So 1 example that did not reach you guys probably because it happened in our farmers country over the past months. Rai Vloet, player of Heracles Almelo. He rear ended a family in his car and a 4 year old boy died. There were rumours of alcohol being involved but the player maintained he didnt drink too much or exceeded the speed limit of 130 km/hour. Now Heracles portrayed him as a victim himself, did whole PR and stuff and started playing him again. The fans were outraged and protesting as a 4 year old boy died and it was unclear if the player was to blame. Club still played him.

Only after information came out that he was under the influence of twice the amount of alcohol allowed and driving 203 km/hour when the accident happened did the club go back and suspend him. The parents of the 4 year old did an interview where they said they never received one message, one call, something at all from club or player. Very cold world.

Such a talented player, but yet such a disturbed individual. There has been previous with him reportedly locking his gf or a girl in the house and not letting her out.

The Man United fans on RedCafe have confirmed it's definitely him in the recording. You can hear from his voice there's an issue there.

People saying there could be a way back for him if he is a favourite or whatever. There's no way back. Once he has what he has in his mind. Disturbing needs and a need for violence or power over women it will most likely always be there lingering.

Although he's a United player he's an incredible talent. But it just goes to show. Some people don't reach their potential and its nothing to do with his application on the pitch.

Thoughts are with the girl and she should be going straight to the police. I don't really agree with the positing all over social media. However maybe she feels she won't be listened to.

@Rex Banter you’re probably right actually n I’m just being super naïve, like how much value do you reckon Utd place on Greenwood’s career, how much value is a decade worth of goals etc, since when have football clubs been guided by anything other than money, do they choose to forego the millions Greenwood could make them over the course of a playing career?

No way he gets away with this with this kind of evidence. Are there examples where there is audio & physical abuse evidence circling around the internet, and the player can continue at top level like nothing happened?

You’re totally right about powerful figures getting away with it, and he might well carry on playing.

Often though the visceral reaction among the public has more sway than objective facts. Two people can do the same bad thing, but if one has pictures and audio then the consequences will be worse, because people will understand it more viscerally.
Prince Andrew springs to mind.

I see a load of United players have unfollowed him on social media. Hard to see how he recovers from this.

Arsenal Quotes

Thierry Henry was very quick at analysing everything that was going on and how he needed to react. This intelligence, this capacity to evaluate, understand and question oneself, is also the mark of great players... For everyone, for the fans and for us, he symbolised the golden age of Arsenal.
