Lazio full-back Luis Pedro Cavanda flattered by Arsenal interest

The agent of Luis Pedro Cavanda claims to be unaware of speculation linking the Lazio full-back with a move to Arsenal, but has welcomed such talk.

Reports have suggested that Cavanda is among a number of potential defensive recruits Gunners boss Arsène Wenger has his eye on heading into the summer.

The 22-year-old right-back is likely to be available at the end of the season after becoming locked in a contract dispute with Lazio.

He is tied to the Italian club until 2014, but no extension talks have been held.

Arsenal may be able to make that situation work to their advantage when the transfer window re-opens, with Cavanda's representative admitting that he is keeping all options open.

"Pedro is currently out of the team, so it is natural that we are looking around," Ulisse Savini told calciomercato.it.

"It will not be easy to find a solution that makes Lazio happy, but we will try.

"Arsenal's interest? I don't know about it, but if there is interest then we would be flattered."

No thanks. He's a full year and a month older than Jenkinson yet has played 10 games less than him in his whole career.

God no. He's not good enough to be called up for the Belgian squad, and the RB is our worst position: we're currently putting a CB or even a CM there. Yes, our real RB options are that bad.

he is 6'3 and fast and does well when he has started games for lazio at right back and left back, wouldn't be shocked if we made a bid for him but this just seem agent talk as a few months ago he was talking up aston villa's interest. Maybe he's just going through the alphabet of club to stoke up interest in his player.

He also totally shut bale down when they played lazio away so he has pedigree when up against top wingers.

lol even in Belgium we don't rate him highly. The kid has done nothing that should garner any interest, unless the scouts see something that isn't coming across. And granted that could happen, we lucked into Jenkinson for pennies.

how many times had benteke played for belgium prior to joining villa?

I won't hold up to whether a national team rates a player as a gold standard for the quality they have, this guy seems to have performed well whene asked in a difficult league so thats what I will look at.
