I dunno man, i think the idiots may now understand his achievements more.Nah leave Wenger out of this. I've typed this before but I can definitely see a scenario where things go bad and fans start abusing Wenger again and things get toxic.
There are 2 big mistakes I think Wenger committed. One was only signing Cech, that decision did cost us the league. The other one was not leaving after winning FA cup and letting Arsenal to Klopp.I dunno man, i think the idiots may now understand his achievements more.
i would love to see Arsène back someday even its just to watch a game or turn up at the training ground , perhaps in an informal ambassador type role.
I dont want him front & centre but I do want him to feel love & that he is appreciated by the club & fans.
Klopp wanted to go to Liverpool if I remember correctlyThere are 2 big mistakes I think Wenger committed. One was only signing Cech, that decision did cost us the league. The other one was not leaving after winning FA cup and letting Arsenal to Klopp.
Indeed, that stuff is up to the board and the board alone man. They were happily using Arsène as a corn shield, which makes a lot more sense seeing where we are now.Should he have left earlier? Perhaps so. Was it his decision alone? No.
tbf @yorch44 was only giving his opinion as you are giving your own. There is something I don’t quite understand, how or why is it that fans keep repeating the same old tired and incorrect assumptions when discussing Wenger’s tenure?
The all make the assumption that Wenger and Wenger alone made all the decisions especially football related ones during his time here.
Arsène had more power than any manager ever at a football club. I think when big money was made available to him from the Özil signing onwards. He basically could have got whatever he wanted within reason. The bid for suarez & the signings of Auba & Laca inside 12 months proved that. For example they say he only recruited one player in Cech ( which is factually correct). But ignored the fact that the club tried to recruit other players during that window.
The club decided who to recruit not Wenger. If they wanted Klopp they should have reached out to him.
Should he have left earlier? Perhaps so. Was it his decision alone? No.
Top post. It was all part of the narrative that rose up on social media because fans wanted a shiny new manager instead of some old guy. It didn’t matter how good he was. He did everything in the club except make the tea, he sent players out to do what they wanted and he didn’t want to spend Kroenke’s money even though it was offered. All boll*cks but it helped get rid of him. Laughable really. There is something I don’t quite understand, how or why is it that fans keep repeating the same old tired and incorrect assumptions when discussing Wenger’s tenure?

Secondly they assume he had free reign of all transfer funds. No that has never been the case. With the business model that Arsenal have had for many years, we can only spend what we earned, the owners refused to invest in the team therefore transfer budgets were restricted to the income the club earned. Addendum to this is that transfer fees are only a portion of total player costs, wages and bonuses are also to be incorporated into assessing the cost of recruitment and existing costs.
Arsenal adherence to Financial Fair Play cost us big time as while we hindered ourselves by following this principle others didn’t and invested in their squad ( Man City and Chelsea).
The club decided who to recruit not Wenger. If they wanted Klopp they should have reached out to him. To blame Wenger for Klopp going to Liverpool is about one of the dumbest anti Wenger arguments I have seen around.

Where do you think we’d be if Wenger stayed on and we spent the same amount of money since he left ?

I mean not to get in my Trax bag, but I am pretty sure planes, trains & social media rants had quite a bit to do with it. In combination with the boardroom politicking of course.Would like to know how exactly Ivan convinced the board to sack Arsène in 2018, tbh.
Considering they legitimately had no plan on what to do after him![]()

Furthermore we had never seen those results and league finishes under Wenger before. Literally became untenable and KSE we're quite clearly pushed into this rather than genuine ambition or anything like that.
It really wasn't that hard of a convince, it was a quite obvious decision to make. A simple, we are the only club in the whole world that makes no progress over a 2-3 year period of time much less a 10 year period of time and doesn't sack our manger, would work.Would like to know how exactly Ivan convinced the board to sack Arsène in 2018, tbh.

I was wholeheartedly Wenger out tbh, but man if only I had known how f*cked off I'd have been in the current timeline. We really are a terrible, terrible fanbase.
Bar the odd good fan, like you and I, for excellent examples.
