Player Contract Watch

Balance is key

Arteta got an option to extend his contract for another year if he gets x amount of games this season, just like Rosicky had in the last season. hopefully he wont get anywhere near that number.
everybody wanted them gone in the summer just to bring in one competent non injury player - we would have been a lot stronger if we had.

Hope Arteta stays as a coach - but the stockpiling of over the hill, injury prone, backup players on high wages is causing us one problem after another.
pretty ****ing weird, since wenger supposedly hates to give out contracts to players closing in on 31.

The risk of those 3 players being the indirect cause for us to lose out on winning the PL this year is massive - we needed those squad numbers for players of quality/potential, not some kind of senior charity, regardless of that all three of them at one point were productive members of our team.

Arteta wanted out in the summer
Rosicky wanted out in the summer
Flamini would never leave money behind
might as well have made it perfect and kept Diaby

Flamini and Rosicky will probably leave, Arteta might stay one more year, due to the respect he has from Wenger.

Hopefully this makes way for likes of Toral and one big midfield signing in next season.

I think they're all off, Arteta isn't trusted too much any more, Rosicky can't stay fit and Flamini we tried to ship off in the summer.

It's baffling that we still rely on any of them to offer any kind of squad depth. Arteta is the only one who has a right to be here at the moment, since he is highly important off the pitch, but hope we get rid of all this summer.

all of them need to leave this summer if Arteta Flamini and Rosicky all leaves this summer need to buy at least 2 new midfield players.

yeah, at least 1 big name CM please.
with the 3 departures' salaries, we can offer a huge contract to anyone,
Coq just got a new contract,
Ramsey signed couple years ago along with Jack and the english core, maybe it's time to give them a bumper.

Not bothered if all 3 leave to be honest. Nothing against them, we just need players who can compete for starting 11 spots. None of them have been close to it for a long time now.

1 new player and the promotion of one of the kids would be more than enough to cover the departures, given the injury prone nature of Arteta and Rosicky in particular.

Copying my comment from another thread:

Petr Cech- Keep
David Ospina- Sell (Szczesny back after loan)
Mathieu Debuchy- Sell (Get someone who would play backup, a young kid or Jenkinson)
Laurent Koscielny- Keep
Per Mertesacker- Keep another year as backup
Kieran Gibbs- Sell (Get young talented left-back as backup)
Nacho Monreal- Keep
Gabriel Paulista- Keep
Calum Chambers- Keep one more year, if he doesn't improve then sell.
Hector Bellerin- Keep
Tomas Rosicky- Sell
Aaron Ramsey- Keep
Mikel Arteta- Keep as coach, no longer a player.
Santi Cazorla- Keep (unpopular opinion, but maybe ease player like Isco into his role next year through rotation between two?)
Jack Wilshere- Keep, is great when fit and devoted to the team.
Mathieu Flamini- Sell, I like him though! Sorry Özil!
Mesut Özil- Keep
Francis Coquelin- Keep
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- Same as Chambers.
Olivier Giroud- Keep, an amazing backup.
Theo Walcott- Keep, unless a better option is presented next summer like Griezmann.
Alexis Sanchez- Keep
Danny Welbeck- Probably keep, great backup, not THAT injury prone.
Joel Campbell- Keep or sell based on this year's performances, also sell if better option becomes available.

No way we should sell Chambers or Ox anytime soon. Should loan Chambers out next season so he can get some regular playing time. Keep Ox around and if he doesn't improve drastically this season, buy a starter for next season and loan him out too.

I guess a loan is fine, though Ox has been given many chances and I am really not feeling him these days. I get he has had his moments, but isn't Arsenal becoming a club that should expect more than that? He isn't a kid anymore, there are standards.

The dream:

Arteta --> Isco
Campbell --> Griezmann
Debuchy --> Jenkinson is ok
Gibbs --> Young talent
Flamini --> Carvalho
Ospina --> Szczesny is ok
Walcott/Giroud --> Idk, but one of them for someone great would be nice.

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
