Go on...we've all read the rumours by now

For those that have missed it, Canal+ (a fairly reliable french source) have stated that we're "very very close" to his signature.

We'll see i guess, but i think it'd be a very good signing.

I have no idea who this is.

Wikipedia tells me he's a centre back, which is good cause we need another one of those.

So. Yeah, why not. I'm on board.

If he is to be that cheap, Wenger probably is doing what the guys are giggling about in other threads; selling Traore to get his dosh to splurt on Squillaci. The list of players we've been linked to this Summer must be hitting a record high.

An experienced CB you say? Sign him up, hopefully the chances of another Silvestre-type anomaly occuring are quite low.

Why are we always moving for French players? Dont we have scouting networks in other countries? I'm not impressed with this player at all.

Arsenal are in talks with Sevilla over defender Sébastien Squillaci, according to respected French news outlet Canal+. If the transfer goes through, defender Håvard Nordtveit will be made available for loan.

Squillaci was left out of the Sevilla squad for tonight’s Champions League clash with Sporting Braga amid firm reports in France that Arsenal are planning to snap up the experienced Frenchman. Arsène Wenger had told Nordtveit earlier in the summer he wouldn’t be part of the first-team, but with defensive recruitment’s failing to come to fruition, he had allowed the 19-year-old to stay with the first-team.

However, if the Gunners can wrap up a deal for Squillaci, Wenger will listen to loan offers for the prospect.

More to follow.

He is currently in Spain though. But the French league is very similar to the Premiership in that it is physical so the players will be more suited.

Mediocre player for club and country he isnt even first choice anymore for Sevilla. But at least he's experienced.

Well he's definitely not playing for Sevilla v Braga whether we should read anything into that or not I don't know.

Is he a starter for Sevilla? They've got a few decent CB's.

Decent as a backup i guess. Nordveidt does need to go out on loan and still get some more experience under his belt till he matures a bit more. We'll see what happens

Arsenal Quotes

There is no chance of Sol ever leaving for Arsenal. He is a Spurs fan and there is not a hope in hell of him playing in an Arsenal shirt.
