The almost Arsenal player

Its like someone whispers to Wenger on January 29th that he's free to sign players until the end of the month, then he rushes to try and get something done, only to run out of time. Like the dream where I show up to school without my pants, also embarrassing.

In all fairness, does it really matter? Fact of the matter is that if he truly wanted someone, he waited too long again. He had an entire month to act and he didn't until the last hours of the window. Anything now is just speculation because well, we're still sporting the same team when everyone knows that we shouldn't be.

With that being said, I agree with Klaus that it was Remy. I figure the action in mind was to loan Remy for the rest of the season and then in the summer, we'd sign Chamakh and Remy would end up moving to Lyon.

I reckon it matters. Wenger isn't known for desperate buys, so whoever it was that we almost bought, surely we will try to get the same player in the summer window? Considering our boss's character, it would seem logical really.

Its that reason alone that makes me curious.

Keeper: Sorensen (Never ever we would buy a keeper in january window)
Striker on loan: Huntelaar (He would have been great as loan!)
Striker on permanent: Loic Remy (..eek, who is this one? French?)

Anyone watched Wenger's interview just now? He touched on this subject.

"We tried to sign players but it didn’t work and we have to accept that,"

Surely he means player and not players..?

This is one isn't qoute from Wenger himself, but Chris Harris of the arsenal.com site, wrote in this piece: "Arsène Wenger has revealed that he was thwarted in his attempts to sign a new striker in January."

Odd thing to say, cause if you read through the article, the boss doesn't say anything about what position the player/players he tried to sign had

This irritates me. It's not like we signed two players and couldn't get the third. Either we didn't show enough interest early or were outbid late or the player didn't want to sign with us. Either way, knowing that we needed reinforcements, the club didn't do enough. I get tired of Wenger talking about our injured strikers for instance when it was clear that they were either going to be injured for a long while or keep suffering relapses. For a top 4 club either you sign a player and address needs or not, almost is not good enough for me...there, rant over :)

This is silly probably.. but could it have been Dzeko or Villa we tried to sign?

Eek. Sounds silly when I read that question out loud..

So according to this link it was Saha, but I don't know whether it's reliable or not.

Arsenal Quotes

An Arsenal fan, when you finish fourth, will say, “Hey, we’ve been in the top four for twenty years. We want to win the league!”. They don’t care that Manchester City or Chelsea have spent 300 or 400 million euros. They just want to beat them.
But if you finish fifteenth two years running, they will be happy if you finish fourth after that.
