Torn ACL knee ligaments

It happend to me 3 years ago (playing football) and Iam finally going have the operation tomorrow.

I am little worried as I know im not being flown directly to the states or being seen by a famous sugeon as Pires and Nisterooy did.

but I watch Pires and the recovery he has achieved and it inspires me!

well thats my story.....Ill get my coat

Anybody here had a footballing injury? and made a 100% recovery?

How come it took you so long to have an operation? You must of been in pain for 3 years and wouldn't you also be in pain? (I have no idea about torn ACL knee ligaments so excuse my ignorance :eek:ops: )

Are you sure it is a torn cruciate? I feel for you. Good luck with the operation. If you are a sporting man - make sure you work hard ar getting full mobility back into the knee.

check my own left knee. I just take the pic 5 minutes ago, 1 year (11 months) after my bike crash. You can see it's purple now !! and I can't play foot or another sport for more than 30-45 minutes, if I do more my knee is painful :?

I have barely any cartledge left in my left knee after I was tackled from behind a few years ago - my knee buckled, so now the bones scrape against each other. T'was what forced me to give up playing proper football and just indoor.

brianfrance - go see a specialist. Looks like you might need some surgery if you ever want to play sport for a long period of time though.

Probably cost a bundle.

I've had hamsting ****e bugging me all my football 'career'. Stuff like that gets on your nerves after a while, as well as your blowing teammates.

I switched to tennis

not probably, it's sure. And I hate hospital. I prefer play 30 minutes, and do indoor sport like "ping pong" etc...
Main thing is, I can play bedroom sport. :D

Well I broke my knee when I was ten. I fell off a horse, and got dragged by the foot-holders. The horse also kicked my shin high up which smashed my knee inside. Took about 7 months to get back from that. No lies. I got stitches where it kicked me.

I also broke my leg last year when i was 15. I was playing football for my team called Pinnacle in Mill Hill. I was going in for a volley, when the opposing 'keeper came into me studs up, and broke my shin. That took me from February till May to recover. And untill September to get back to full fitness.

Luckily I'm 100% fit now. Thank God.

Sigun, you will be OK. Do not worry about not going to the states or having a world famous doctor, these procedures are more common these days. In fact, after surgery I would expect there to be some rigorous exercise / rehabilitation to be done. There are workout machines designed so that your body will also build muscle around the area of your injury. This helps in addition to the sugery. Most doctors like to say, "Your knee will become stronger than your 'good' one." And it will, when you get the chance to work for it.

So I don't think there is a need to wish you luck, this will be successful.

Arsenal Quotes

I want a fan to wake up in the morning and say, “Arsenal are playing today, I’m going to have a good time.” That guy starts his day off by thinking that something good is going to happen to him. And to do that, big clubs like Arsenal have to have the ambition to play spectacularly. Of shared happiness.
