Ajax chief Marc Overmars urges Arsenal to sell Mesut Ozil and sign target Hakim Ziyech.

Ozil was in and out of the Arsenal team last season and the ‘assist King’ only managed to register two assists in the whole Premier League season.

Emery is suggested to be keen on selling the playmaker in order to free up funds, but it doesn’t appear that there are too many European takers.

Ozil current deal of £300,000-per-week means he is sitting pretty in North London and will not be easily swayed.

Overmars, who won the 1998 double with Arsenal has told Emery to bin Ozil in exchange for rising star Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech was superb during Ajax’s shock Champions League run last season

The Ajax Director of Football even claimed the Morocco international is a better player than Ozil.

The Dutchman said: “I am a bit surprised that it is still so quiet around Hakim.

“I think he has played better every year and his statistics are exceptionally good.

“Many clubs are increasingly looking at that.

“They look more at the numbers than at what he shows and what is happening around him.

Overmars has urged Unai Emery to replace Mesut Ozil

“I think Hakim Ziyech is better than Mesut Ozil. I would tell Arsenal: ‘sell him and you will get Hakim for half the price’.

“But they didn’t listen to me. So it could just be that he stays with Ajax.”
