Who?

Barcelona and Uruguay hotshot Luis Suarez

Where?

Suarez finally got his wish in the past summer, completing his switch from Liverpool to Barcelona after a breathtaking season for the Reds which saw him notch up 31 goals in 37 appearances. The Uruguayan came to England with his fair share of baggage and left with even more, but 82 goals in 133 appearances for Liverpool, preceded by an even more prolific record of 111 in 159 for Ajax, won him a transfer in the region of £75 million. However, he’s enjoyed a relatively slow start to life in Catalunya by his standards. And it is thought that the delicate situation the Blaugrana currently find themselves in could lead to further upheaval.

Arsene, spend some money…

With Barcelona spending a club record £75 million on Suarez only this summer, there is absolutely no chance they would let him leave for any less. He’s a proven Premier League hit, so any transfer fee back to these shores would likely be ramped up even higher.

Arsenal may have more money to play with than they once did, but the kind of fee required to bring last season’s PFA and FWA Player of the Year award winner back would probably be beyond the club’s limits.

Believability factor – 0/10

The fact the story appears to have emanated from the Daily Star should tell you the whole story. They prey on the gullible fanatic, wishing and willing to believe anything and everything they read. So when the rumours inevitably die out, the angry keyboard warriors have yet more ammunition to fire when the going gets tough.

At this time of the season, with the squad so heavily imbalanced, the last thing Arsene Wenger would do would be to empty his bank account on another attacking player.

Alexis Sanchez has largely filled the void that existed in the summer of 2013 when we were seriously linked with Suarez. With the myriad of attacking talents available, the addition of Suarez would add further congestion to an attack force that is splitting at the seams with dynamism and technical prowess.

It appears as though somebody has latched onto the uncertainty at Barcelona, and is click-baiting the life out of it. The story has no grounding whatsoever. So don’t give it further mileage (oops, how hypocritical of me).

Game changer?

Through fear of being highly controversial, a lot of the ‘game changing’ that is required at Arsenal is often more to do with tactical discipline and game management, and less so about the need for more and more signings.

Don’t get me wrong, Luis Suarez would be a phenomenal player for the club. But in terms of whether his transfer would push the club to where they wish to be, quite simply, no it wouldn’t. The side’s shortcomings for many years have been their inability to find an approach which works for big games, and the ability to continually shoot themselves in the foot.

Through different generations of players we have seen an alarming tendency to self-destruct. To me that says more about the management, and less about the players.

if Suarez comes then who should leave the emirates, in fact I doubt if he can cope with the goons, he can may be decide to use his teeth inappropriately during a training session, who knows….
