According to reports, Arsenal are looking to wrap up a deal for Napoli star forward Dries Mertens this summer.

The Belgium international has been sensational for the Serie A side having bagged 46 goals in his last 72 league games.

talkSPORT claim that the 31 year-old would be available for a cut-price of £24.5m due to a clause in his contract.

Arsenal have twice broken their transfer record in the past year following the signings of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Whether the Gunners need more fire power up front most is questionable.

However, with Mertens rumoured to be available for such a modest figure, it would make business sense to invest in the star striker.

The Gunners would have to fend off interest from north London rivals Tottenham, while Manchester United are known admirers of the forward.

Gooners, how could Mertens fit into the starting line-up? Let us know in the comments…
