Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been watching Getafe centre-back Djene Dakonam ahead of a possible summer move, according to reports.

Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph claims that Emery has been present at a number of recent matches to watch the defender.

“As an aside on Getafe, was told that Unai Emery has been to a few recent games,” Wilson tweeted.

“And presumed to be interested in their centre-back Djene Dakonam.”

Djene Dakonam has personally scouted by Unai Emery

The centre-back has a contract until 2021 and Arsenal still have to go through some negotiations to secure the 27-year-old’s signature. Djene has been very impressive in La Liga though, helping Getafe to achieve 5th place with one game to go.

Arsenal are also reportedly keen on signing Gremio defender Walter Kannemann.

It could be a busy transfer window ahead, but much of Arsenal’s expenditure falls on whether they achieve Champions League football next season.

Unai Emery allowed his players three days off before beginning preparations for the all-important Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku (May 29).
