The stone that the builders refuse
What a ting if Arsène rotates and we blow this & PSG draw - although difficult to see PSG do anything but win this.

Worried Wenger will play Özil and Alexis here, both love CL games and will want to add to their great stats in it this year.

Hopefully we play this team:

Ospina
Jenkinson Gabriel Holding Gibbs
Ramsey Elneny
Niles Jeff Iwobi
Lucas
Maybe even leave out Ramsey as we really can't afford more injuries. The result really doesn't matter now.

That team will lose. This maybe a dead-rubber match, but we don't want to lose it.

Yeah but we may well do that. It'll be close to a EFL cup team I reckon. Makes no sense risking the big boys...we have the killer Orcs on the weekend.

Don't care. I don't want us fielding a feeble squad. Every game is for winning. Every game.

Wenger won’t rotate when there’s the slimmest of possibilities that Ludogorets could snatch a draw.

Özil and Kos might get a rest but expect to see Alexis.

Theres no way that Wenger lets our best players play 5 games in 16 days, which is what will happen if he plays them against Basel. Including West Ham last Saturday (Dec 3rd), they will play Basel, Stoke, Everton, and finally City on the 19th. We will play Stoke, Everton, and Man City in a nine day span. Theres no way he doesnt give our studs a full week (this week) to recover so they can handle the 3 premier league games in a row next week.

Playing them would be shortsighted, partiularly since its pretty meaningless. Very low chance of finishing first anyways, and even then, our draw could be crap even if we finish 1st.

Hoping for something like, we need to preserve our players for the intense December/January fixtures and with this game being a dead rubber, it should be a no-brainer for Wenger.

Ospina
AMN - Holding - Gabriel - Gibbs
Coq - Ramsey
Walcott - Iwobi - Ox
Perez
Ox needs more minutes to continue his recent good form, Iwobi can be tested in AM role while Ramsey can play in CM role.

A surprise could still happen at Parc des princes on Tuesday. Psg got trashed by Montpellier 3-0 this weekend, they were awful. Their midfield is decimated because of injuries/suspensions. Finally, Ludo will want to finish 3rd and so try to get a result in Paris.

We should play a mixed team able to win this game and keep the likes of Özil and Alexis on the bench but ready to come on, in case something is happening in Paris that we can take advantage of.

Still not exactly sure why we signed this guy. For the kind of role he's gonna be expected to play (.e. bit part), you need someone who's settled, physically ready and requires little adaptation to this environment. Its clear he'll struggle to find is rythmn if he just keeps getting dropped into random 2nd string line ups.

The short answer is, we didn't know then what we know now.

1) Welbeck was/is out until January, earliest, and the possibility of a setback was always out there.
2) Our only other true striker worth anything was Giroud
3) Sanchez was not nearly in the form he is at striker, and we had no way of knowing if he would be able to fill the role the way he is now. At the beginning of the season, it was even out there that Walcott should try the striker role.

If we knew how good Alexis would be at striker, likely we wouldn't have bothered making the purchase. Hindsight is 20/20. If it turned out that Sanchez was just not a good fit at striker (for whatever reason), and Giroud got injured, we'd be killing Wenger for not bringing in cover during the transfer window. A bit harsh to criticize the purchase, given the way things have panned out.

Much better lineup.

A strong squad heading to Basel. Giroud will likely play, I think. Si will Xhaka.

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
