Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has given his take on whether his old club can win the Premier League this season.

THE LOWDOWN: NEW ARSENAL

Arsenal have made the brightest of starts to the Premier League this season with a lot of impressive results. The wins over Tottenham and Liverpool rank high up there and it is believed that the Gunners could go all the way.

However, many see the lack of quality on the side as a hindrance to that but the mentality shown in a couple of games so far might change that stand.

Arsenal remain top of the league, two points ahead of defending champions Manchester City and talks have been making rounds about the North London side’s chances of lifting the title for the first time since 2004.

Legendary ex-manager Arsene Wenger, believes his former side can go all the way and former Gunner Aaron Ramsey equally believes the Gunners are in a good position.

THE LATEST: EX-PLAYER’S POSITION

Aaron Ramsey, who was speaking to The Mirror, shared his thoughts on manager Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal squad.

“I know Mikel from playing with him in my time at Arsenal,” Ramsey tells Mirror Football.

“You could always tell that he was going to become a manager one day.

“I got asked about this just as he moved to Arsenal, but I always knew that it would be a great decision for them. Now you’re seeing him thrive, really, and Arsenal have produced some really good performance this season already.”

When asked if the Gunners can we the title, Ramsey added: “They’re top of the league, they’ve qualified for Europe [the knockout stages] and things are looking really good for them at the moment.

“Obviously there’s still a long way to go, but right now – at this moment – I’m really happy as an ex-Arsenal player and a fan still. For the fans, as well, it must be a really exciting time.”

Ramsey joined French side Nice in the summer after a three-year spell at Juventus.

THE VERDICT: LONG WAY TO GO

Arsenal still have a long way to go. It is still early days and the signs are good, but the final games before the World Cup break could define all they have done so far. Finishing strong has to be the priority and hopefully, Arteta and the boys will be able to deliver that.
