Reports from France suggest that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli in January.

THE LOWDOWN: BRILLIANT CAMPAIGN SO FAR

Martinelli was a surprise inclusion for the Brazil squad that travelled to Qatar to attempt to win their sixth world title. However, he is yet to make his debut start on the world stage as the likes of Vinicius Jnr, Richarlison and his Arsenal teammate Gabriel Jesus are ahead of him in the pecking order.

With Brazil unlikely to exit the tournament early, Martinelli will get his run of games which will be icing on the cake for him after the season he is having in North London with Arsenal.

That amazing season of his has attracted the interest of PSG, who are now reported to be plotting a January bid for the forward.

THE LATEST: INTEREST FROM FRANCE

Italian outlet Calciomercato quotes sources from France as being behind the news, but there are no reports from English media corroborating said reports.

What has been in the news, however, is the contract extension talks between the forward and Arsenal, who are desperate to tie him down to a longer contract. His current deal expires in 2024 and even though Arsenal can fetch a pretty penny for him right now, they are unwilling to let him go because of how important he has grown to become.

If Martinelli leaves, it will pave the way for Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk who is set to leave Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

Arsenal have been hot on the heels of the 21-year-old for about a year now. He occupies the same spot as Martinelli and the club intends to bring him in to strengthen that position while giving the Brazilian youngster solid competition to strengthen the squad.

The Gunners could face competition from Manchester City and Newcastle United for Mudryk, however, but Martinelli’s sale would provide them with enough funds to match both financial powerhouses.

THE VERDICT: NOT FOR SALE

It is more than likely that Arsenal will keep Martinelli and fight for Mudryk rather than let the Brazilian go and replace him with another player on short notice.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have learnt who their FA Cup third round opponents are after the draws were concluded on Monday.

The Gunners will face Oxford United for a chance to progress in the tournament which they have won 14 times. They will travel to Oxford for the tie and will be hoping to get the job done at the home of the League One team.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will hope that all his players at the ongoing World Cup come back in one piece because of the coming fixture schedule.
