According to reports, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is on the watchlist of both Manchester City and Real Madrid.

THE LOWDOWN: KEY PLAYER

Saka has consistently performed at the highest level for Arsenal since he broke into the first team in 2019 under Unai Emery. He scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in the league last season, featuring in every single game. Meanwhile, he has started this season in a low-key fashion, with just three goal contributions in seven games. He has been Arsenal’s player of the season in the past two seasons.

Given his importance to Mikel Arteta, it is no surprise to see that talks have been initiated as per his new Arsenal deal. Although he still has two years left, but Arsenal and Edu have made it a priority to sort out his future before the new year.

THE LATEST: BIG CLUBS’ INTEREST

Manchester City and Real Madrid are reportedly ‘monitoring’ the situation of Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka.

According to journalist Adrian Gula of 90min, both clubs are only monitoring the situation and have shown interest in the winger although his renewal talks with Arsenal is heading in the right direction.

Just last month, Saka did confirm his desire to extend his contract with the London club, meaning that a move away from the Emirates is unlikely.

THE VERDICT: ARSENAL NEED TO MOVE FASTER

Although Arsenal have begun talks over a renewal, it appears they aren’t moving fast enough, which has opened doors to links from these European giants.

Saka’s importance to the team cannot be overemphasized and he currently embodies everything the club entails by being a product of the Academy. Keeping him at the Emirates should be a priority in the coming weeks.

One thing is clear though, the player is interested in staying at the Emirates, Arsenal and Edu just need to move a bit faster to close it out.
