According to reports, Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to watch Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie ahead of a possible transfer.

THE LOWDOWN: MIDFIELDER CHASE

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have been in the market for a midfielder for a while now. All through the summer, the likes of Youri Tielemans and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz were top targets, but none of them made it to the Emirates.

Meanwhile, since the window was shut, names have continued to pop up ahead of the winter transfer window, which Arteta is hoping to strengthen his squad after a brilliant start to the season.

Long-term target like Manuel Locatelli has been listed, same as Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. However, the Gunners are not relenting in their pursuit, as the scouts were present to see another possible prospect in Italy.

THE LATEST: AMERICAN STAR

Arsenal have reportedly joined Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United in the pursuit of Juventus star Weston McKennie after sending scouts to check out the midfielder.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, multiple Premier League clubs have already sent scouts to watch him play for Juventus, including Arsenal.

However, despite sending scouts to watch the U.S. Men’s National Team star play in Serie A, Arsenal are yet to make any advanced negotiations for the player ahead of the January transfer window.

Juventus are willing to let McKennie leave, but only for a fee in the region of £26million.

THE VERDICT: DOESN’T FIT

Arsenal do need to buy a midfielder but at the same time, not just any name will do all in the name of getting one to the Emirates. The pick has to be able to fit into Mikel Arteta’s pattern and style. It doesn’t seem like McKennie has the right skill set to play for Arsenal, so the Gunners should look elsewhere.
