Arsene Wenger’s 5 greatest Arsenal signings

Patrick Vieira

Patrick Vieira Arsene Wenger

Little was known about lanky Frenchman Patrick Viera when he joined the Gunners for £3.5m from AC Milan, however he became one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and arguably the finest central midfielder ever to wear the Arsenal shirt.

Captain of the legendary undefeated Invincible’s side of 2003/4, fans will always remember his all-action displays, crunching tackles, powerful box to box runs, and his leadership in the centre of the pitch. He played for the Gunners for nine seasons, scoring 33 goals and winning three league titles and four FA Cups.

To top off his outstanding reputation, his last kick of a ball for us was to score the winning penalty in the 2005 FA Cup shootout over Manchester United.
