Double Villa swoop as Arteta gets €50m wonderkid update – Arsenal news recap

|

It’s been a very busy news day at the Emirates today (Monday February 10) and we have all the details in our Arsenal news recap.

Gunners linked with DOUBLE Villa swoop

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Jacob Ramsey’s progress at Aston Villa with a potential summer move on the cards.

Ramsey is now a key player for Unai Emery’s side and his recent form at Villa Park has attracted significant transfer interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals and provided four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions so far this campaign, and he is being pursued by both Arsenal and Liverpool, according to TBR Football.

Ramsey was linked with an exit last summer, amid Villa’s PSR concerns, but he has established himself as a vital cog over the past few months and Emery is a known admirer.

In addition to Ramsey, Arsenal are also interested in his Aston Villa team-mate Ollie Watkins.

The Gunners failed with a late bid for the England forward during the final few days of the January transfer window, but they could revisit a potential deal this summer.

The former Exeter City and Brentford star has been on Arsenal’s radar for several years and although he is now 29 years old, Arteta is reportedly eager to bring him to the Emirates Stadium later this year.

Arsenal get answer on €50m Argentine wonderkid

Como have once again reiterated that €50m wonderkid Nico Paz is not for sale amid recent links with a move to Arsenal.

Paz, once one of the most highly-rated prospects at Real Madrid, has been starring for Serie A new boys Como since joining from Los Blancos in the summer.

The promoted side have been able to spend freely on talent thanks to their wealthy backers and head coach Cesc Fabregas is keen to build a potential behemoth for the future.

At present, however, Como are still coming to grips with the level of Serie A. While the club have struggled to get results, Paz has continually impressed, his five goals and four assists making him the second most productive player on the team behind only hometown hero Patrick Cutrone.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has attracted big-name suitors with his performances. Arsenal and Inter have been linked in recent weeks, while Real Madrid boast a buy-back clause and sell-on percentage, although Como are prepared to pay good money to get rid of the former.

During the January transfer window, coach Fabregas made it clear that Como wouldn’t sell Paz even if a suitor put €50m on the table. This has now been echoed by club president Mirwan Suwarso.

“We have no intention of selling any of our players, at not least in the near future,” he told Calcio e Finanza. “Maybe in three or four years – because it would be naive to say that player sales aren’t part of the business. And we’re not short on money – we are well-backed.”

Suwarso has hammered home the financial point by seemingly confirming reports that Como launched a €40m January bid for Milan left-back Theo Hernandez.

“In recent days, we made an offer for one of the most important players in this league, but the club didn’t want to sell him. We also made an offer for another top player whose club had agreed to sell him, but the player himself didn’t want to come,” the president revealed.

Arsenal chase Sesko AND Isak as Romano drops major update

Arsenal have been linked with a new centre forward for several months and we understand that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko remains a key target for Mikel Arteta.

In his latest YouTube video, Romano confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the Slovenian and provided an update on their pursuit of Alexander Isak.

“For the striker position at Arsenal, it’s very clear; they will do something very big, very important and massive in the summer,” Romano said.

“In January, Arsenal were trying to understand the conditions of a deal for Benjamin Sesko, but RB Leipzig immediately closed the doors on a deal – no chance to negotiate with a very clear message from Oliver Mintzlaff, who really wanted to keep Sesko.

“In the summer, the feeling is completely different. The understanding is there will be a chance for Sesko to try something new and so Arsenal will be there. He is one of the top strikers on their list and he is also appreciated by other clubs, including Chelsea.

“Arsenal have kept contacts active because they believe that Sesko could be a strong and top candidate for the striker position from next season.

Romano then provided the latest regarding Newcastle United superstar Alexander Isak. He admitted: “The other name, the dream target [for Arsenal], is Alexander Isak. But, obviously in this case, it all depends on the final Premier League table position for Newcastle – Champions League football or not.

“Newcastle plan to advance in talks to offer a new contract for Isak, but we have to see what’s gonna happen there because Arteta is in love with Isak, and Sesko is also very high on the list.”

Arteta set to rekindle interest in star Liverpool striker

Liverpool are prepared to sell Diogo Jota this summer and Arsenal have been tipped to rekindle their interest in the Portugal international.

Jota has only started seven Premier League matches this season and Arne Slot is reportedly open to offloading the 28-year-old as he plans a major attacking overhaul at Anfield.

The Dutchman has enjoyed a sublime start to life in England, but he is already planning Liverpool’s summer transfer business and three key forwards could be sold as he looks to stamp his authority on the Reds’ first-team squad.

According to Anfield Watch, Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez may all be offloaded by Liverpool this summer, with the former attracting transfer interest from Arsenal.
