Do you think Emery will get the club back on an upwards trajectory?

Firstly, its better to only look at candidates who would be willing to accept your offer. Out of those, the only one with experience is Benitez.

Fergie is one thing, the fans another. We are talking about people who sang songs about Wenger being a pedophile. They are a bunch of false wankers.

Ha maybe yeah, though that thread I linked was bloody fans of Championship clubs and such feeling sorry for us. In some cases people actually think it's a shame, we used to be iconic in the league.

Seems like everyone recognises we are getting ****ed by Kroenke.

Why can't it be both? An experienced head for 2/3 years to steady the ship and allow Arteta more time to develop himself as a coach, before taking the reins. If United had gone for that approach instead of the long-term hire in Moyes straight away, they might very well have been better off. Instead they got the Moyes hire wrong and then compounded it with LVG. It took them 3 managers in 4 years to finally get back on track as a club.

Irrelevant what United did. For starters they hired a dud in Moyes, that's why it failed.

I think there must be 2 schools of thought here as anyone thinking Arteta is a good appointment cant base it on likelihood of success as a pre requisite as the chances of that are very unlikely imo as we are unlikely to spend the money needed and he is unlikely to play the style needed either.
Suspect its more to do with carrying on with this style over substance mug off we've had to put up with for years. Thats if you can call the football witnessed the last few years stylish, I wouldnt.
You have to hand it to them if they can pull the wool over some Arsenal fans eyes and appoint Arteta with people still thinking "whar a great idea" no its bloody not.
Going by the poll those who back Arteta are still the minority and no one Ive spoken to Arsenal fan or otherwise think it is a good idea.
If I could bet £1000 on one of Allegri/Emery vs Arteta to bring back success to Arsenal it would not be Arteta my money would go on and I doubt anyone else would say different.

But we have put substance over style. Wengerball has been dead for a good 2-3 seasons, if not more.

We started playing **** football and won 3 FA cups, shame it was still **** so it reflected on our past two league standings.

It looks like its going to be the Arteta - Santi - Per regime (ASP). The 3 boys who came in restored the spine of Arsenal, when the spineless ones left.

The fourth was Giroud, but he is currently leading the attack at superambitious overachieving bigspending whizkidmanager Chelsea, so no GASP
Bring back Gervinho!

Looks like we're going all out for mediocrity in the next couple of seasons while Stingy Stan builds his mega stadium. Hire a cheap manager and give him pennies and dimes to work with.
I hope people cancel their season tickets so they know this **** won't fly with the fans anymore. Enough is enough.

And several hundred thousand pounds.

So that's a decade before we're back up competing if things go sour?
