Wait...wasn't Arsène the one pushing for a new stadium?
How can a manager push for a new stadium ffs? Wenger couldn’t even push transfers. He was part of a team that backed the Emirates project.Wait...wasn't Arsène the one pushing for a new stadium?

Think the key is that we couldn’t redevelop Highbury much while Anfield has scope to grow. He’s right, why move from your “home” when you don’t have to.
You can see why, based in London, already established as an elite club, and massive reputation.
@Makingtrax the worst incident of Wenger luck?
Wenger with that budget would've been cheat mode. You can see why, based in London, already established as an elite club, and massive reputation.
Stan isn’t selling is he, makes little sense for him.In many ways, I'm surprised that we are not being actively pursued by potential new owners.
Considering our location in London, we're an attractive prospect.
Wenger with that budget would've been cheat mode.
I remember the days when people would have puked at the thought of being owned by oil. Now lookWenger with that budget would've been cheat mode.
I think it would've had a liberating effect on him actually, he would've gone back to the 96-05 Wenger cleaning up the trophies rather than having the burden of financial management too.Wonder if he would’ve stuck around anyway because his work and club project here would’ve been pushed aside and finished really, for the new guys to come in and fix everything with their cash.
Eh? More like we would’ve got Hazard, Kante etc. Players Wenger wanted but couldn’t afford.I remember the days when people would have puked at the thought of being owned by oil. Now look
Imagine paying £80m for Xhaka and £80m for Mustafi though...That's what would have happened had Wenger had that budget!

There might have been some duds sure, but imagine the Hazards and Alonsos that the club missed out due to a few million here and there. Surely you agree that finances on that scale would've been a game changer, considering the job Wenger was doing at the time? Guy finished 4th and got to FA Cup/CL semi-finals with Diaby/Denilson/Song midfield, with Cesc/Adebayor/Theo out for months.I remember the days when people would have puked at the thought of being owned by oil. Not sure. Think he’s too idealistic to manage an Arsenal with an unlimited budget, not sure it does anything for him. Remember those comments about financial doping?I think it would've had a liberating effect on him actually, he would've gone back to the 96-05 Wenger cleaning up the trophies rather than having the burden of financial management too.
We blew the kitty on stiffs.Eh? More like we would’ve got Hazard, Kante etc. Players Wenger wanted but couldn’t afford.
He said in 2009, at a time when he'd been linked heavily with Real, that if he had joined them he would've spent big. Why not do that at Arsenal? Not sure. If anything it would’ve have liberated him in allowing him to leave and manage a Bayern, Real, take the PSG project etc. He wanted to give Paris a strong team.
Yeah bad spending. It’s interesting though, and telling, we can only mention two/three players when it comes to expensive Wenger flops. Ferguson, Pep, Jose probably have closer to 20 of these flops each.We blew the kitty on stiffs.
He kept pulling out on deals over a couple million here and there. Then who sanctioned that stupid 40m + 1p Suarez farce? Wenger became indecisive and while he obviously would have been less indecisive on some deals, it's hard to say what he really would have done. Leicester would probably have asked for much more had we been properly wedged up, and Wenger may well have bottled agreeing the fee again for all we know. Mo money, mo problems. There might have been some duds sure, but imagine the Hazards and Alonsos that the club missed out due to a few million here and there. There is spending big and then there is fantasy football where no one in the league can compete, that’s what the owners want and I’m not sure that does anything for Wenger. He said in 2009, at a time when he'd been linked heavily with Real, that if he had joined them he would've spent big.
