When should Arsène Wenger have left ??

Yeah and we didn't find right solutions for those players.Sold Nasri and Fabregas when season already started and it was same story with RVP.From there on,we were just side that will fight for top 4 and not title, despite buying some quality like Özil,Sanchez,Mertesaker etc.

We fought for the title in seasons 2013-2016 but injuries and media halted the team from winning the league.

I enjoyed the 2014 and 2015 seasons quite a lot if I’m honest, although both had their embarrassing moments, winning the two FA Cups felt amazing after the trophy drought since 2005...think we were still a very good team then.

But we were clearly on the decline

Infact, since 2013 we've gotten progressively worse each year

At least now I'm optimistic that things will change for better

Our 2014-2015 team was better than our 2012-2013 team.

After not winning the league in 2015-2016, each year after that we have declined really.

The 13/14 team was definitely better than 14/15 team though. Giroud was the weak link of that 13/14 team.

It had the best CB partnership in the PL. Arguably the best midfield. It just needed a top striker to win the league.

From then on the team got progressively worse.

the 2013 team was better than that 2014 team

As follows; 2013>2014>2015>2016>2017>2018=2019

The 2015 team was the 2014 team, plus peak Sanchez, how is that weaker?

We started the 2014/2015 season off horribly, everyone was injured or in poor form really (bar Alexis) when Per and Kos returned together and Coq came back to play with Santi we were amazing.

The 2014 team was very good, but lacked an x factor in the team, no one really terrified opposition, Sanchez gave us that.

All our best players were at their peak in 2013. Shame about the Ramsey injury. An impotent Giroud rally killed us in the season run-in

I barely rember 14/15 for some reason, other than thumping Villa for the Cup.

How was that team worse than the one a season prior? How is that possible?

It's cause we were all over the place in the first half of the season, plus the kits that year weren't great, think that's why it gets forgotten

Second half of the season we looked really good (minus the Monaco/Giroud disaster) played lovely football, I had real hope at the end of it...then summer 2015 happened...

Yeah I sort of remember now!

But Oxeki implied the actual team was better the season before. We didn't lose any player of significance in summer 2014 for that to be the case, did we??

Edit: just seen you already addressed it a few posts up ;)

What makes you optimistic ? Because I'm certainly not, it's going to take a good 5-6 years to be competitive again but atm we are miles behind

After 2015/16. Not totally his fault if board didn't sign off on a striker, but the league was still on a platter and we couldn't take advantage with what was arguably the league's best squad at the time.

Dead kits ruin seasons in my mind. Years like 07/08 and 10/11 make me nostalgic because I still rate them as our cleanest kits post Highbury even with the traumatic memories.

11/12 was appalling though and the Puma kits afterwards were straight trash. Made every player look like he had man boobs in them ffs.

League is very weak
Why don’t we ever ask “why didn’t the club move Wenger on”?

It’s the job of the club to hire, fire, set plans and put systems in place etc.

A year before Wenger left we drew with PSG twice, beat and drew Utd, drew with City, beat them in the FA cup, beat Chelsea in the league, and actually won a trophy. We dropped out of the CL, but thats better than anything since then.

People always tend to think that going out of top4 was the end of Wenger. But that's the first time he is out of top4, I believe he would bounce back last season, get back into top4 and unlike Emery he would have won that EL final against Chelsea.

It is obvious that Wenger would have been a better fit for last season than Emery given that Wenger knows the league better, is specialist in getting top4, and would have now had experience in EL.
