**** this guy. Don’t understand why some Arsenal fans pine over him, he completely ****ed us over to get a move to Barca despite being our captain!

watching the Barca fans turn against him was glorious though

Well it was not Cescs fault to be played as a false 9 striker instead of his best position at Barcelona.

Of course Chelsea needed to win more than us, bar his first season in the Arsenal first team, we weren't a title contender anymore after that...their owner had been pumping in ridiculous money into them since 2003, while we financially crippled ourselves when we moved stadiums in 2006 (then re-crippled ourselves in 2011 when Stan took over ffs.)

Someone needs to explain how squad cost works to our dim little friend Cesc.

We were in title race in almost every season when Fabregas was in Arsenal. Some minor things didn't go our way and weak mentality was probably one of the factors. It was clear case that we fell down mentally after Eduardo's injury and Carling cup final.

In terms of quality yes,we were behind Chelsea and Utd,but that's not only thing why we didn't win titles.

04/05...great team, won the cup and finished 2nd, Chelsea were fantastic this year sometimes it isn't meant to be, still a very good season for me...good enough team to win the league.

05/06...bit like Chelsea in 2011/2012, too many key players were too old to be consistent in the league, but had the character for a shorter comp like the Champions League...not a good enough team to win the league imo...Vieira leaving and Sol declining this year was massive.

06/07...rebuilding season... some quality players aside, not good enough the win the league.

07/08...tricky one...our best season since the stadium move, but considering the United and Chelsea sides we were up against no one should have expected this team to win the league really.

08/09...same as 06/07.

09/10...had some good moments this season, but against the teams we were up against, no one is winning the league with Gallas-Verm and Almunia in goal, no one.

10/11...same as 09/10 really.

During Cesc's 7 years in the first team, only 1 team he played in was good enough to win the league and was built to do it...the rest had flaws or were too young imo.

We had neither the money or mentality needed for league success during most of Fab's time here unfortunately.

But the point is that we were very much in title race and fight with Chelsea and United until April or something like that. So,team was competitve enough to get close, but we blew it in 2008 and 2011 because of certain things and lost all big matches in 2010.Chelsea was just too good in 2005 and 2006 was werid one,but we were probably one of the favourites to win EPL with those players as well.

It's not like we were so much behind them and didn't have chance at all to win EPL.It was few factors that decided who won title at the end.

Yeah,that last sentence is correct.

I would say around 2005/2006, we dropped a slight level...not much, but we went from a 1st/2nd place team, to a 3rd/4th place team...we still had some great players, and even though we had quality periods in each of those seasons...we still always drifted behind Chelsea and United in the end, but that was acceptable really, we weren't as good as them anymore...that was our level at the time, 3rd or 4th.

Wasn't until summer 2015, when we really screwed ourselves out of a league title.

10-11 is the year we should've won the title, given the competition and our talent level, but between Wenger not making the necessary upgrades/providing depth in the necessary positions (defence, GK), and our constant injuries which were a feature of Wenger's later era teams (read: they come down to him, in the end, something was wrong with our fitness preparation and sports science), we barely even challenged in the end.

But that was a more talented team than United, and it was such a missed opportunity.

Will note refereeing decisions were also disgraceful that season, gave United a big advantage.

Yeah agree, our quality dropped off since start of Emirates Era.We lost many big names in one summer ( 2006),but still have a lot of quality in the squad, with less experience.United was always ahead of us in that moment and knew how to play big games and Chelsea was too good in some seasons.

Still, there were some fine chances to get more titles. Some elements were missing definitely and didn't go our way.

Cese isn't saying anything that isn't true. However Wenger was well on his way to building an amazing team coming in 11/12 season but instead cesc decided to bolt and essentially ripped the heart out of the team that was built around him.

Imagine if we kept cesc, rvp, nasri I definitely think we would've won the league in the years to come. Cesc would have a statue outside of the emirates.

Despite all his trophies he's never left a legacy...maybe he should go to the MLS as a last chance saloon to be a club legend.

Marca is a Real Madrid mouthpiece. Of course THEY wanted him to stay. :p
He was top of the assists table in La Liga at the time. He split opinion like Özil did here about 4 years ago, before everyone decided he was worth the price of a large mix kebab.

It wasn't really a split opinion, the fans were generally against him. He even got booed by the Nou Camp crowd in one of his final matches for the club. It was never like that for Özil, the match going fans adored him.

Barcelona and Real fans aren't greatest in the world .Remember when Real fans booed Casillas when he didn't perform.

Back again with his unsolicited opinions?

I’m almost certain it was a solicited interview and not a random tweet.

Also, after watching both collapses against Birmingham and others do you disagree with the sentiment about that era?

I took that as a pop at the likes of Almunia, Denilson, Clichy and co rather than the club but maybe I’m reading this wrong.

I'm just biased against Fabregas, that's all. So everything he says/does is a negative in my eyes.

Arsenal Quotes

Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win. In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement.
