I think there are a few AM I told you so who shjould be eating humble pie over Cedric and Mari. Both when called upon have done the job.

Good players. Both have impressed me. Cedric's contract length stinks, but never understood the fuss with Mari. He was dirt cheap, great profile, and has always played well.

I dunno man. Actually think the popularity of football is being overrated. It's big here, but not dominant like in Brazil or Germany.

Look at the South West, not a single proper football club. All they do there is play rugby, cricket and hockey (another sport England is very good at). Rugby in particular is extremely popular nationwide, much as I hate it.

I always thought Rugby and Cricket were more posh sports but I see how they're more popular in some regions, I don't know about hockey though.

I'm liking the level of technique brought to the table when Saka and Pépé are both featured in the attacking trio.

We need Rangnick, Ødegaard, Buendia, Bissouma, Eduoard/Depay and Saliba + Balogun back in the summer.

That's all Santa.

Sure you were trolling but I don’t agree - England have tons of quality. Always have one of the top 8 or so squads in the world which is what you’d expect from their population (medium) & investment (large).

The biggest reason England never has a ‘dominant generation’ is - in my view - that they play too many sports. Most countries specialise in 1-2 sports, which get all the most talented kids. England is a jack of all trades country, whose talent pool is never concentrated. Has at least 3 major sports (Football, cricket and rugby) all of which it competes in at the highest level, but none of which it dominates. Ridiculously successful country for its size at the Olympics. Huge tennis and golf heritage too.

Doesn’t fit the narrative, but truth is that England massively over-perform in international sport, relative to what you’d expect. Needs to be looked at in the round.

That's a load of bollocks. The reason simple the was the football culture. Hardwork and grit over skill and technique. I know so many guys who were super talented but they lacked that 'grit' or were too flashy.

Also The pitches were like a mud pits. Technical players were a rarity only ones I can think of are hoddle and le tisser and interestingly enough they never played enough for England.

It is only with the introduction in to a continental style training in academies and 3g ptiches in schools and 4g across the country that we've seen a change in the standard of technical players. Sancho, foden, Saka ESR are all examples of that.

If you've ever played Sunday league football you'll know exactly why there was no quality generation.

Pepe needs to do this next match, and the next.

Hate to be a downer but he's had these one off games a few times and then goes missing for weeks on end. So lets' see what happens now.

I get that and it’s a valid criticism of him, but he’s also hardly ever had a chance to build much form.

Is only behind Laca as far as g/a contributions, no?
