I can't say this Diogo really set the world on fire. I managed to dl Portuguesa's game agaist Flamengo. Diogo scored twice, both were penalties. The way he took the first penalty was poor. He approached the ball, paused, then kicked it. Yet he still managed smashed the ball onto the wrongfooted goalie. If it were a Flamnego defender rushing into the box too early before Diogo kicked the ball, the ref wouldn't have given Diogo a second chance. Still, Diogo almost, just almost blew up this second chance by kicking the ball toward the keeper. Only he got lucky when the ball still bounced through beneath the keeper's body. The truth is the ref gave two very soft penalties to Portuguesa. The ref spoilt the game with these two crucial decisions, other than that, the game was quite enjoyable (despite lots of dives from both sides, especially from the home side).
Unlike his performance in the last game I saw himtwo months ago, this time Diogo dealt with one-on-one situation better in wide areas. I guess that's the one of the two positives I could get from watching him. The other positvie is that, right after the 60th min mark, he showed his skills and had two pops at Flamengo's goal. The ways his shielded the bouncing ball and timed his run to beat offside is quite Inzaghi-esque. Oh, so was his diving.
