Lacked creativity with out Ozyakup playing. A midfield partnership of Yennaris and Eastmond is not going to offer much going forward. Murphy and Park were up front as well. Thought Chamberlain and Ryo would have caused problems for Sunderland.

Thanks for the putting the link up. It was a good read and very interesting.

Like how Barcelona have got La Masia and how when Johan Cruyff was Barcelona's manager he wanted them to copy Ajax's academy.

All through the Arsenal academy/youth system they are taught the "Arsenal Way", Wenger's philosophy how the first-team play. Reserves and U-18's are taught to play the same way and play with the same formation.

Very interesting article, and it once again shows how football is always evolving, this time in terms of development, and it is so vital to always be moving forward. The heavy emphasis placed on cognitive training coupled with the already established technical training, will no doubt create an even higher level of football players.

Luke Freeman signs a permanent deal with Stevenage.

He was an interesting player who was criminally overhyped here. Hope he does well there though, always seemed a nice kid with a good attitude.

Surprised actually. He has never quite looked like a world beater, but he has looked much improved in the last 18 months or so. He will score a lot of goals in his career, a really good finisher and that knack for being in the right place at the right time .

In playing style, he is more similar to Arshavin, but, like I said, he has a real knack of knowing where to be inside the box. He'll score a lot of goals by the time he hangs his boots up, hopefully a load of them come at Premier League level. I think there's a decent chance.

Yeah am also suprised he's been sold. I rarely watch the reserves but he's always impressed me with his finishing and overall efficiency. It's really hard to tell with these youngsters at times. I remember Ryan Smith was supposed to be the next big thing but it never worked for him

Surprised by how early he has moved, but good luck to the lad. I always liked the way he played in the reserves and was probably my favourite player in that group. Hopefully he will make his way to a PL club at some point in his career.

I'll put this here, seems the most relevant thread.

U18s won impressively at the weekend, 5-0 vs Pompey was the final score.

Really starting to like the look of Olsson, Toral and Gnabry. They have amazing technique and have scored plenty of goals since arriving - definitely looking good to be in the Reserves next year and potentially some Carling Cup time.

95 crop looks really strong. Olsson said we propably had 80% posession vs Pompey lol.

Does anyone know how serious Bandfield and Bould are about pressing? Pressing as a unit needs to be learned from an early age, La Masia style.

I know the Reserves and U-18's play the same type of football as the first-team. They are taught the "Arsenal Way", play passing style football and same formation.

Not surprised Watt went out on loan around the last time they won and Ozyakup has been injured lately. Aneke went out on loan in Nov as well.

No doubt Reserves need to improve and get back to winning ways. But with the team changing all the time players going out on loan etc it does affect the Reserve team. Like Neil Banfield says it's not about winning Reserve titles, it's about producing players for the first-team.
