Granit Xhaka: Swiss Army Knife or Blunt Tool?

Can't believe we're still talking about of how nice Xhaka passes. Seems it doesn't matter that if between receiving the ball (and he looks at his foot when doing so) and releasing it (looking up, wondering, trying to control the ball) 5-10 seconds pass. he's killing every momentum and offers zero support going forward by maybe finding a pocket of space or drawing other players away when going forward. He's in the heart of our team and offers so little and it's hurting us since we signed him.

I have no problem with his ability to pick a forward pass when it’s available, it’s part of why he’s stuck around for so long.

But now those options aren’t there he’s just a sideways passing machine that isn’t press resistant, quick thinking or a good dribbler. Basically makes him appear useless.

Have you seen the way those guys press and play one touch passes?

They’ve created the 2nd most chances in the league, 2nd highest shots at goal and 3rd highest possession in the attacking third. When they upgrade their defenders they’ll be a problem.

The counter attack is not on. With some football knowledge, you'd know that recycling possession is the thing to do when the opposition is in their shape. Switching from left to right etc.

When there is an opportunity to counter, Xhaka is great at initiating it.

Why do you blame Xhaka more than anyone else when he has a good game? Why do you criticise him for showing good leadership? Why are you such an agenda merchant?

Xhaka is a superb midfielder. He is capable of doing a lot better than he is at the moment, even though he's not playing bad at all. By limiting his role, Arteta's not using Xhaka to the best of his abilities. Partner Xhaka with a solid DM, give Xhaka creative freedom as a deep lying playmaker. He is world class.

Have been pointing this out for ages. It's not just lack of physical pace. He is also mentally slow and his slow decision making is what took the club's attacking play down to tatters. His defensive game is also laughable.
