I will try again, and this time I will write a bit about the matches next weekend, so please do not lock this one aswell. Both Milan and Juventus will have some easy matches in this round, Milan are playing away to Lecce(the match is to be played at a neutral stadium after crowd disturbances during Lecce`s last home match), and Juventus are away to the awful Treviso. Inter are playing Messina at home, Messina have just fired their manager Mutti. The big match of the round is of course Fiorentina-Roma, Fiorentina are just 1 point ahead of Roma and have the 4th place in the table which gives Champions League-qualification, the winner will get a big advantage over their opponents when it comes to getting that 4th place.

Fiorentina are very strong at home this season so cant see Roma getting a win.

True, and when you consider Roma`s big injury-problems to importnant players such as Totti and Chivu, a Fiorentina-win in this match seem pretty clear.

Fiorentina have the edge of home advantage but Roma have surprised many this season. I'll predict a draw in this one which will leave the race for 4th still open.

RockyRocastle asked me the same thing last night, I expect it to be around 40000-50000(around 10000 of those will be Juventus Ultras) at the Delle Alpi for the match. A couple of weeks ago, Juventus had about 55000 against Milan at the Delle Alpi in the Serie A.

From now on, in this section, I will try to post updates about how two great Italian teams, Genoa and Napoli, are doing in the Serie C. The Serie C has 2 divisions, only the winners of each division gets promoted to Serie B. Genoa won 3-2 at home against San Marino on Saturday, which means that they have 5 points advantage to Spezia in 2nd place with 6 games to play. Napoli, had a draw(1-1) away to Sangiovannese, and have a 7 point advantage to Frosinone in 2nd place.

oh ok thats decent then! do a lot of the juve fans commute from all over Italy? Torino play at the delle alpi aswell dont they and record larger averages? thats what im led to beleive might be wrong though.

The truth is that Juventus have most supporters of them all in Italy, but in the town of Turin, Torino have almost all the supporters. That is because Torino are a real Turin-club, established by people from Turin, while Juventus were established by FIAT-workers from South-Italy(Juventus are incredibly popular in South-Italy). My impression(have heard and seen them myself once) is that the Torino Ultras are much better than Juventus Ultras(even though they are not bad at all) when it comes to creating atmosphere at matches, and Torino have a average of 23000 in Serie B this season, Juventus have only 28000 watching their matches in Serie A(before this season, Torino had bigger attendances than Juventus even though they were playing in Serie B). As for the Juventus-supporters, they have some supporters coming from Milano and Rome(one group of the Juventus Ultras is called Fighters Roma). For the big matches, they have some people coming from South-Italy to watch the matches.

ok cheers for that. and they both play at delle alpi yeah?

Yes, they do. But they used to share the old Comunale before the Delle Alpi was built for the World Cup in 1990, and next season they are going to share the renovated Comunale(was re-built for the Olympics in February) again, Juventus are going to re-build the Delle Alpi next season, and when the Delle Alpi is rebuilt in 2007, Torino are going to play permanently in the new Comunale.

Parma seem to have got their act together. A lot of Aussies follow them due to Bresciano and Grella. It looks like they will stay in Serie A for another season. Anyone know if Parma's financial crisis has been resolved?

Their financial crisis is still not solved, there were rumours that a Spanish businessman was going to buy Parma in January, but he did not buy them after all. Parma`s revival is due to two main things, Beretta(their manager) and their Brazilian midfielder Simplicio. Beretta has really improved them, and when you consider that he has done just that(before Beretta came in at Parma early in the season, they were in the relegation zone) with small resources, it is even more impressive. Grella started the season well, but did not perform consistently well until Beretta took over Parma. Bresciano is not too bad, he has played many games, and has scored 6 goals so far(some of his goals leading to importnant wins lately). As for Simplicio, he is one of the best midfielders in Serie A this season, and has scored 9 goals this season for Parma. I think that if Parma win just a couple more matches(maybe even less), then they will avoid relegation to Serie B.

Some very interesting matches in the Champions League for the Italian teams this week. Juventus have a tough away-match against us, Inter are playing at home to Villareal, and of course Milan are playing Lyon away in another top-match.
