Don’t hate the man, hate the manager who uses him there. And imagine if Lucas could read this... he would be crying if you hate him :(

What's the point of him in the CAM position? Giving Johny and Mounho and whoever the freedom of the pitch while our only pure DM fcuks about in the opposition D

Emery’s logic is... put him as cam so he can recover the ball high and block exits from opposition. Reality is he basically erased CAM role, so it’s like playing DM high but without any idea oh what to do with the ball.

He hasn’t realized you don’t need defensive players to high pressure. If you want to do that you instruct and teach your offensive players in how to pressure. It’s not like you put CB as wingers so they win the ball higher LOL.

Pep or Klopp don’t put Fabinho or Busquets high to make their high line pressure, they use the strikers, wingers and CMs but Dms. And whole team goes higher so they reduce spaces between lines... they press like a unit.

Actually those tactics is what you see in Sunday league teams... put the dude with better physical condition chasing every... and try to recover the ball. But against a decent team, that dude would look like a kid running in circles behind the ball.

Also, you can't press with a diamond. There are too many gaps.

If you need the kind of pressing which I think Emery is going for, you need a 4-5-1/3-5-2....with a 4-3-3, you need supremely physical guys.

Yes, easy way is 4231 and while you defend your cam goes parallel with striker so turns in 442. 433 works if you have physical players like Liverpool or your players coordinate extremely good cutting lines passes like Peps teams do. In Peps teams they advance like a Legion cornering you so you don’t have options. Problem is when a team breaks that pressure in quick passes or long passes to an strong CF like Drogba used to destroy Barca

Exactly. We don't have the guys to do any of that.

Torreria is very mobile and agile, he is best used a cover/mopper behind a bigger more static CM. and then you can understand him going forward.

Yep, 4231 is the simple, obvious choice, and it’s the best fit for our players, bar perhaps Auba when Lacazette is playing, and I don’t even consider Auba on the left to be a problem.

Mourinho said in live tv that would set Auba better... that He could get better scoring position coming from left cutting inside... same Pepe and Bellerin out wide overlapping.

He said, defending with back 4 but creating with back 3. So Pepe can get inside and provide Laca. Özil behind them linking and creating. He also said Laca does not work in 433 because he has not the ability of linking like Firminho does, and that’s why 433 in Liverpool works and ours doesn’t. Because our 3 front is disjointed from midfield. Firminho basically plays as CAM/Support CF for others

Using this guy incorrectly will cost Emery his job. Our only other "DM" has massively damaged his Arsenal career and profile amongst fans.

Our only actual defensive minded player in midfield is Torreira, use him like you used to Emery and we will automatically improve. He is garbage playing as a number 8 or 10. The fact we need to say this shows Emery won't last tbh, clueless.

Even when he was an automatic first choice he never seemed fit enough for the pace and physicality for the premier league to be able to perform consistently for a decent run of games. I'm not saying that he's been terrible, and he certainly hasn't directly cost us points like Xhaka, just he's major contributions are a bit too few and far between.

He's another niche-type player you need to have very other specific players around to get the best out of him (like Xhaka), but is he really good enough, or wants to hang around long enough, to have the midfield tailored around him?
