Maniche

Appiah didn't make it up to standard unexpectedly. Did well in the last few seasons though. Will prefer to have Xabi to either Appiah or Maniche.

Every time I saw Appiah play for Juve, granted I only saw him about 4 times, he was incredible. He seemed to be everywhere, winning the ball back and passing it on.

Maybe he was just having a few good games. I withdraw my statement :D

If Wenger ends up getting Maniche, who are we to judge him. He was part of Portos success in the champions league and arguably Portugal's best player at Euro 2004. He has the attiributes of an Arsenal type midfielder and can also get among the goals. Two goals in the CL quarter final against Lyon and 'that' goal against Holland. So he has the qualities to become a top class midfielder and under Wenger he will blossom.

i also feel the same way about Xabi Alonso, in fact if I had to chose I would pick Alonso as he is even younger and is already class. But if Wenger gets Maniche I think it would still be a acquisition for us.

Also Maniche has been linked with top teams this summer, that should at least mean something.

I have no doubt that Maniche would be an excellent signing. He proved last season with Porto that he's amongst the best midfielders in Europe. He cemented that tag at Euro 2004.
A Xabi and Cesc central midfield combination is mouth watering. Wenger simply has to sign Xabi if he is available for under £10m. Thats just too good a bargain to refuse!
Having said all that I have a feeling that Mascherano will be an Arsenal player.

Thanks for those links King Reyes. Mascherano sounds like a highly talented young midfielder and some would say a typical AW signing.

I dont understand why, Maniche is like Lampard or Baraja. He's pretty good at defending and hard working but he's mainly attacking! Why would one replace a very defensive midfielder with one who's a lot more attacking and nowhere near as good at defending.

Maniche couldn't lace Vieira's boots.

Xabi Alonso could, and possibly shine them too!

Good news. He seems confident Patrick will stay and although believing for a while that Vieira was a dead cert to leave, I now have some confidence he will stay.

Remember AW saying last year it was a disaster for Man U after they sold Beckham. He said what made it worse was the way they kept going on about how he was very important to them, and how they didn't want or need to sell him.

If we sell Vieira then AW will be in for some critisismm by the media for contradicting what he said, even if Vieira wants to leave because he wasnts more money.

Isn't he what Wenger wants in a central midfielder ? someone who can score goals ?. I for one think that he's one of the best central midfielder's in the world when it come to scoring goals. He's also a good passer and tackle's well.

I don't believe he will cost us more than £6m - £8m.

hard ball gt's you no where, he'll leave but they'll get what they paid for him, i expect him to go for £10m

but if he's homesick in russia then he won't be coming to england.
